When I was 9 years old I "bought" and took over Bill Seaman's paper route. For the next three years I delivered the morning Journal-Register from Lowell Ave. to the Dial Court area. Blessed Sacrament to Butler school, a little bit beyond, but I can't remember the street names. Anyway, on Saturdays all the paper boys would go to Bart's "grocery store" across from Blessed Sac. Church and pay for the papers we delivered. John Spring was the man who collected the cash from the paper boys. He taught any of us who would listen the basics of Business 101 at a very young age. He was a great guy. RIP, John. And, thanks.

To the Spring Family:

My late husband, Steve Knoles, retired from the Journal Register. During his time there, John was always a kind and caring friend, and mentor to him. I send my condolences to the entire family for your loss. He was indeed a great person and all who knew him will miss him.

Such a nice person. Will always remember how he made my dad laugh. Him and Frannie's visits to Florida were always a hoot. Godspeed.

So sorry for the passing of Mr. Spring last week. Words can not express how much of a kind and loving person he was. Mr. Spring was one of those rare people that always made you feel comfortable around him, and he always had a kind word to say or make you smile. He was like a second Dad to me, more of a Dad I would have wanted in my life. How fortunate is the Spring family to have had had such a person in their life. We will all miss him and his gentle nature.
