Richard Dean Floyd 1933 - 2017
Monticello, IL—Richard Dean Floyd, 84, of Monticello, passed away at 11:05 a.m.,Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Kirby Medical Center, Monticello.
A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00, Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Mackey - Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. Graveside services immediately following in Bement Township Cemetery. Dan Koeings will be officiating.
Richard was born on October 9, 1933 in Cadwell, IL the son of Merle and Frances (Shartzer) Floyd.
Survivors include his wife; Nancy Floyd of Monticello, son; Richard Jr. (Carol) Floyd of White Heath, son; Bob Floyd of Urbana, daughter; Rachel (Daren) Burse of Monticello, son; Todd (Erica) Dragoo of Mansfield. Richard had seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Richard was a retired telephone repairmen for GTE/Verizon. After retirement he enjoyed fishing, bowling,camping and spending times with family and friends. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a avid Tony Stewart fan. Richard was a member of American Bowling Congress and US Bowling Congress. He loved to play and teach solitaire with all his grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents (Merle and Frances Floyd), wife; Patricia Floyd, brother; Jerry Floyd and sister; Patricia Floyd.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
