Chester A. Haines 1927 - 2017
Auburn, IL—Chester A. Haines, 90, of Auburn, formerly of Springfield passed away Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017 at Eastland Retirement Community.
He was born Aug 25, 1927 in New City, IL the son of Guy and Hettie Neal Haines.
He married JoAnn Spencer on Jan 31, 1953.
Chester served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He was employed at Allis-Chalmers and retired from Holsum Bakery after 33 years. He then worked at Bergners for 10 years as a maintenance man and was a life member of the teamsters.
Chester was an avid Cardinal fan and bowled for many years.
Surviving are his wife, JoAnn; one daughter, Lori (fiancé, Bill McGrew) Jordan of Springfield; one son, John (Pam) Haines of Auburn; three grandchildren, Dawn (Andy) Fuchs, Deanna (Tim) Gasen, and Dustin (Ashley) Haines; five great-grandchildren, Lydia and Lexie Fuchs, Carleigh and Caylee Gasen, and Kennedy Haines; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am till time of services at 11:30 am, Wednesday Nov. 15, 2017 at Third Presbyterian Church, Springfield with Rev. Joe Eby officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park with military honors will be conducted by the Interveteran Burial Detail.
Memorials may be made to Third Presbyterian Church.

Dear Joann, Lori and Mary Lou: So sorry to hear of Chesters passing. I will always remember the good times at Aunt Pegs home when I was a child and Jo and Chet lived next door. Rest In Peace, Chet; you lived a long and good life.
