Fred M. Patterson 1933 - 2017
Springfield, IL—Fred M. Patterson, 84, of Springfield, died at 9:55 am, Friday, December 22, 2017, at his home. He was born August 3, 1933, in Wildersville, TN to George and Pearl Baker Patterson. He married Nancy Barger on July 17, 1976 and she survives.
Also surviving are his four children, Judy (Denny) Williamson of New Berlin, Michael (Karen) Patterson of New Berlin, Jeffrey (Brenda) Patterson of Springfield, and Gregory Patterson of Loami; two sisters, Earline Hammett, and Willodean Davis, both of Huntington, TN, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Neal Patterson; two sisters, and three brothers.
Fred worked as an Iron Worker for the Local 46 for twenty six years, and retired in 1994. He also served for the United States Army from 1953-1955. He was passionate about gardening and loved outdoor activities.
Memorial Gathering: 10am- 12pm, Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield.
Memorial Service: 12pm, Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield with Reverend Warren Brosi officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Woodwreath Cemetery in Island Grove.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cherry Hills Baptist Church or Berlin Christian Church.
