What a wonderful Uncle. Thank you George for all your kindness. We miss you.

I knew father George while at Elizabeth Bay. He was a dear friend and gave me so much in a time of hardship. I remember him as a kind gentle man with a sense of humour and a great faith. So very sad at his passing but so full of joy at the great things he achieved in his life. God speed into Gods beautiful Light. You are not forgotten and always in my prayers.

Father George will be remembered as a priest faithful to his vocation. His family, friends and parishioners may be surprised to learn how tolerant he was of a priest who abandoned the priesthood and even the Christian faith - myself. I had the frequent pleasure of lunching with George and a bunch of his priest-friends, including my brother, Fr Jim O'Meara, at their regular Monday gatherings. I consider the way active priests treat apostates like me a test of their own authenticity. George Connolly was, in this and in so many other ways, exemplary.
