Vale Justin (Wal) Cranney

Justin Cranney, Wal as we knew him, was a notable Biology Teacher, Rugby and Athletics Coach for so many years at Our Lady's Mount Waverley. As an Old Waverlian myself I remember Wal so well also as a fellow Member of Staff and Coach. There were significantly memorable occasions associated with Wal's successful coaching career such as Paul Rynehart's spectacular winning of the Cardinal's Cup at the St Pat's Day Sports in the time of Cardinal Gilroy when I was MIC of Athletics. As a contemporary fellow Resident Master living in The Grange I knew Wal personally very well and can attest to his cheerful manner together with his intense, conscientious, consistent, successful coaching and teaching. As a former well regarded Marist we say ... Farewell Wal, our prayers go with you and Requiescat in Pace - Your race is run so very well.
