I have many fond memories of growing up next door to the Quas in Ashfield. One of Pat's paintings (which I inherited from my parents) hangs in my home. Lots of fun times spent with Golly and Willie and other neighbourhood kids. Pat always welcomed us into her home.
Thanks for all those happy days Pat.
To Golly and Will my deepest sympathy.

Pat was a treasured neighbour to me in Ashfield for nine years, and I used to pop in and visit after I moved away. I loved going over to her house for a cuppa the back door was always open or in the days when she still drank I'd sometimes take over a bottle of wine. Her incredible house, with the exotic fabrics draped on the ceilings, lanterns and beads and other decorations, the wonderful mural in the kitchen, walls redesigned to include archways and windows, the paintings in that back room that she'd sometimes take me on a tour through, the back yard with its many fountains ... And in the earlier years, she'd usually have something in progress on the easel that she wanted to talk about. She was always interested to hear about what I was writing, or if I had any travel plans. She'd make a cup of tea (if we weren't having wine), bring out the biscuits or little cakes. She often had other visitors, or someone staying, and a cat or dog or two around. Occasionally she'd play some jazz piano for me. Even in the Willows nursing home, when her memory was giving her trouble, the old Pat with her spirit and humour would flash out. Vale, friend, you'll be much missed.

A lovely lady of many talents. I was introduced to Pat when she was teaching herself to paint. I'll remember her always for the wonderful music she made for us with Ray and company at my wedding reception.
So to you Chris and to Willie, my condolences.
