In 2016, I volunteered at the Holdsworth centre and was partnered up with Dr Conolly to assist him with his technology. We formed a close bond over the 10 weeks, I learnt about Bruce's life and we realised we had many mutual friends. I am now in my third year of University and wanted to get into contact with Bruce, I am very saddened to hear that he passed away a few years ago. I send my deepest condolences to Bruce's family, he was a lovely, inspirational man and had a huge impact on me and I consider myself to be very lucky to have met him!

Dear Joyce
I have only just become aware - on the first anniversary - of Bruce's passing. As so many have noted, he will be both sadly missed and very fondly remembered.
It was my great privilege as Australian Ambassador to Myanmar from 2005 to 2008 to see first hand the exceptional compassion and skill that you and Bruce demonstrated on your frequent visits to Myanmar.
Love to you and your family.

As well as being a brilliant and skilful doctor he was a charming gentleman who made me, and I'm sure other patients, fe el very well cared foe; special, even.
At St Luke's he hand performed surgery on two occasions.

I have just heard of Professor Conollys death. I knew he was Ill but I feel quite devastated at his passing. He operated on my father's hands as well as my hands. He was a true gentleman and we had many conversations about music which is my great love. He will be truly missed not just by the medical profession but also by his patients. I always felt safe with Professor Conolly and I knew that he always had my best interests in his heart. A truly remarkable gentleman and I feel privileged to have known him. Bruce Connolly impressed me in many ways. His wonderful personality engaged his patients and colleagues with his skills
as an enthusiastic communicator.
Bruce conducted hand meetings at Sydney Hospital which I
enjoyed as a Rheumatologist because of his knowledge and clinical judgment. We learned a lot and he led a distinguished group of surgical colleagues at the Hand unit who he would have
influenced as a teacher.
Bruce was always cheerful and had a twinkle in his eye
in conversation.
We will miss him and I am sure my colleagues at St Vincents
Hospital who knew him will agree.

Vale Bruce

I am very sad to hear of the passing of such a special man . He was a formidable human. A dedicated husband and father, an amazing educator, supporter of all colleagues, highly skilled surgeon. A trailblazer, a kind, generous and very determined man, and always endlessly generous in sharing his knowledge.

It was a privilege to have known you, worked with you, shared patients with you and learnt from you.

Thank you for my personal learning, for advancing hand surgery so dedicatedly and for supporting and encouraging hand therapists to grow so strongly as a profession and be everything that we are today.

With sincere love and sympathy to your family and your beloved Joyce.

Rest In Peace

Warmest regards

Bruce and I started medicine together.. We partnered each other in the university badge tennis team along with John Whittaker and Leslie Rae.early in our careers and we shared some very precious social occasions but the pressure of professional life later interrupted this.I will always be extremely grateful for Bruce's expertise as a surgeon attending many of my patients ,including my wife for the cure of their hand problems.
I do hope that his God-given expertise and his wonderful manner with his patients has been well-learnt by his many students as he had learnt and inherited from his father, the Late Dr Bill Conolly.
Rest in Peace,Bruce,it was indeed an honour to know you.
Our deepest sympathies to you Joyce and your family
