SOUTH BEND - Betty E. Andrews quietly entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 9, 2014 in Sanctuary at St. Paul's at the glorious age of 87 years young. She was born on February 21, 1926 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to the union of James Willard Wilson and Helen Singer Wilson. Both parents preceded her in death. Betty received her formal education through the Kalamazoo, Michigan School System. Later, she moved to South Bend where she joined Olivet AME Church where she accepted Christ Jesus as her Saviour. She worked faithfully in her church receiving numerous accolades for her service of more than 50 years. Betty was known for her beautiful design and application of Custom Plastic Fittings for furniture. She was an active and vital resident of Sanctuary at St. Paul's where she enjoyed the numerous activities offered. There are no words or accolades to describe the devoted love and care that was given faithfully by her daughter, Wanda. Betty will be greatly missed. Those who survive to cherish her memory are her children: Shirley Lee Lancaster of Benton Harbor, Michigan, Maurice Lee of California, Wanda Lowery Anderson of South Bend, Indiana and Ira Andrews; 6 grandchildren: Alice [Coldmon] Christian, Diane [Coldmon] Johnson, Brian Coldmon, Shawn Coldmon, LaToya Surratt and Verna Cook; 11 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Jeanett McNeill of South Bend; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Alva A. Andrews; three brothers: Bobby Wilson, Willard Wilson and David T. King; one daughter, Denise Andrews; and two grandchildren, Darrick A. Herrell and Joseph D. Anderson. Services for Betty E. Andrews will be held on Monday, February 17, 2014 in Olivet AME Church, 719 N. Notre Dame Avenue, South Bend.
