SOUTH BEND - Emercine Shubert, 85, passed away at 7:30 pm, Thursday, February 21, 2013 in Memorial Hospital. Emercine was born May 16, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Vincent and Angeline (Vas) Zitkus. On August 10, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois, Emercine married the late John Shubert. She was also preceded in death by brother, Irvin Zitkus. Emercine is survived by sons, Mark (Deborah) Shubert of Osceola and Luke Shubert of South Bend; daughters, Edith McCarthy of South Bend and Judith (Doug) Copelin of South Bend; grandchildren, Kelly, Monica, Jeremy, Charlie, Jason, and Nick; and nine great-grandchildren. Emercine was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church for 65 years and a member of the Rosary Society. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be at 11 am on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in Holy Family Catholic Church. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family. When I was little Nana use to rock me to sleep, i could be so cranky and th minute we hit the rocking chair and she started "lalalalala" it was over for me. She was a wounderful person inside and out. Nana you will be missed by so many people. We will hold you close to our hearts.
