DOWAGIAC - Florence Mary Radtke passed away February 25, 2014 surrounded by her family at Borgess Hosp. in Kalamazoo, MI. She was born on February 2, 1928 to Frank & Marie Werhand in Chicago, IL. On November 27, 1947 she married Herman Radtke in Chicago. Florence was a member of Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church, where she participated in the choir & halo group an also a member of the Borgess Lee Memorial Auxiliary. She loved to travel, line dancing & making everyone laugh. She retired in 1991 from Skibbe Tax Service, Dowagiac. Survivors include her children: Elaine (Bill) Carter of Niles, MI, Thomas (Lois) Radtke of Cassopolis, MI, Robert (Tammy) Radtke of Sturgis, MI and Laureen (James) Bowers of Palmer, Alaska. She also has ten grandchildren: Craig Carter and Kevin (Kari) Carter, both of Niles, MI, Jill (Jason) Dull of White Pigeon, MI, Kara (Greg) Williams of Orland, IN, Robert (Brianne) Radtke of Sturgis, MI, Sara (Kurt) Hartsell of Cassopolis, MI, James Bowers III and Holly Mitchell, both of Palmer, Alaska, Alec Radtke and Evan Radtke, both of Sturgis, MI, and 12 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Harry, parents and two sisters: Mary Babiarz and Mildred Weger. Her infectious smile will be missed by many. The family wishes to thank everyone at the Timbers for their help and support. You are all special. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Borgess Lee Memorial Hosp. Ladies Auxiliary. There will be a private family service held at a later date. Arrangements were made with Clark Chapel of Dowagiac, MI. She was entrusted to Cremation Services of Southwest Michigan. Florence was a wonderful cousin. I last saw her at a St Augustine High School alumni dinner. Always a smile and a great laugh.

What a gal...Florence was a favorite amongst our family. Great smile, personality, never shy and aways fun conversation. Her Aunt Lorraine, (my Mom) and all the Dudiaks will miss her.

Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.
