I so enjoyed Elinor being my bridge friend. My deepest sympathy to her family.
Eleanor was such a great lady and she will be greatly missed.
Dear Kathy, Bill and Peter;
Your Mother and I were friends since 1949 and what a wonderful friendship that was. I have truly lost a dear friend and will miss her very much.
We were last together in December at our Christmas Bridge Luncheon and had such a great afternoon together. That's the way I want to remember your Mother--enjoying a good game of Bridge, laughing and making us all feel happy to be with her.
Unfortunately,I am away from South Bend and therefore will not be able to attend the Services for your Mother but please know that my thoughts and prayers and love are with you.
Please stay in touch, we have so many wonderful memories.

Dear Bill and Long,
We are very sorry to hear of Eleanor's death and would certainly have attended the funeral if we were in town. She was a stalwart ND fan and her sweet disposition will be missed by all! Warmly, Kate and Pat
Bill, Pete and Kathy, I know I write for all the Malones, not least my mother, for the sadness we feel for you and your families. Maintaining a beautiful, upbeat spirit to the end, speaks volumes to the person she was to so many. God's love and so many memories comfort us and we pray that you experience this comfort too. I wish that we could all be there for the celebration of the great gift of her life to so many. In Deepest Sympathy. Jack Malone

Eleanor was a neighbor of mine when we lived on Hawthorne . She was a very special neighbor who always had a smile and kind words. I remember her beloved Dallas who kept her company . Rest in peace Eleanor you were very kind to us.
May this candle and those at the Basilica shine as brightly as your life, Eleanor.
Kathy, Peter and Bill: We dearly loved your mother and we will miss her.
Eleanor is one of my "Great Ladies" of Notre Dame. She was always welcoming, generous and had a great sense of humor. I shall miss her sage advice.
Our love and prayers go to the Burke family. Eleanor was such a warm, witty, and wonderful woman who will remain in our hearts and memoroies. We are certain that she is now being comforted by our Lord.
To Bill, Kathleen, Pete, and family,
I am very sorry to hear of your mother's passing. Over the years I enjoyed all of my visits with her so very much. Your Mom and Dad were part of a small group of people from the 1950+'s that made Notre Dame such a great school. Your Dad, as the first Dean of Freshmen Students (a position he held for 30+ years), set the standard but was also responsible for more than a few alums making it to graduation day. Your Mom's presence and grace on campus will long be remembered, honored, and missed. Her life-time active role at ND began as a little girl when her parents rented a room to a student from Norway by the name of Knute Rockne. I admired her adventurous and liberated spirit very much.
Scott D. Evans, Claudia, Mary, Abraham, & Sarah have our thoughts and prayers with the Burkes.
When a patient and her family touches you soooooo... You remember why your a nurse and why God called you to comfort those in need ... My heart aches for the family of this fine fiesty woman .. I only dream to be like her .... Hugs to all... Prayers for your peace! God only picks the most beautiful flowers of the day!
