MISHAWAKA - Judith J. (Samarich) DeDonato, 66, residing in Mishawaka, Indiana passed away at 12:20 AM Friday, January 6, 2017 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.

Judy was born on April 21, 1950 in South Bend, IN to the late Bronko and Doris (Vaskovich) Samarich and has been a lifelong resident of this area. She was a 1969 graduate of LaSalle High School. Following high school, she attended Indiana University South Bend and Ivy Tech. Judy was an avid reader and enjoyed dancing, cooking, baking, and gardening. She also enjoyed traveling to Florida and making many trips to Shipshewana. She enjoyed celebrating Serbian Christmas, even as her death occurred on Serbian Christmas Eve. Judy worked for many years as Deli Manager at Martin Supermarket on Western Ave. She attended Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, South Bend. Judy was a very loving and family oriented person, playing the part of peacemaker and treating everyone with kindness.

Judy is survived by her companion of 22 years, Albert Nagy of Mishawaka, IN; three daughters, Melanie (Kim) Marosz and Gina Marie DeDonato both of South Bend, and Beth (Josh) DeDonato of Edwardsburg, MI; son, Tony (Tori) DeDonato of North Liberty; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Mitzi Rickhoff of South Bend and Sally Sprong of West Lafayette, IN; and brothers, John (Jill) Samarich and Millard Samarich, both of South Bend. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister-in-law, Cheryl Samarich and a great-grandson, Elijah Jimenez.

Funeral services for Judy will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 12, 2017, at Palmer Funeral Home - River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615. Graveside Services will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may gather with the family on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 4:00 PM till 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545; or to Pet Refuge, 4626 Burnett Drive, South Bend, IN 46614.
