WALKERTON - Richard Henry Ullery, age 93, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 24th, 2013. Richard was born on July 29th, 1920 to Henry M. Ullery and Marjorie Albright Ullery. On February 7th, 1940 in Hobart, Indiana he married Vera Louella Stull. Richard served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945 on a PT Boat in the Philippines. He farmed for most of his life. He was a member of the Iron Workers Local 292 for over 30 years. Mr. Ullrey also worked for the Walkerton Parks Department for 19 years before retiring in 2005. He was an active member of the Beaver Creek Wesleyan Church and the Walkerton Food Bank. Mr. Ullrey is survived by his wife, Vera; two daughters, Marjorie Crouch (Tom) of Indianapolis and Gloria Middleton (Denny) of Walkerton; five grandchildren, Jill DeHaan (Eric) of Bloomington, Indiana, Kevin VanHuss (Angel) of Walkerton, Andrew Crouch (Amber) of Indianapolis, Ben VanHuss of South Bend and Sara Breeding (Scott) of New Carlisle; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Jacob and Anya DeHaan, Olivia and Drew Scott, Dylan VanHuss, Maddie and Kory VanHuss, Abigail and Ava Crouch, Taylor Lambert, Scott, Morgan and Cooper Breeding. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the Beaver Creek Wesleyan Church or the Center for Hospice Care in South Bend. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 28th, 2013 at 10:00 AM (ET) in the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, 408 Roosevelt Road, Walkerton. Burial with Military Honors to follow in the Tyner I.O.O.F. Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday in the funeral home.

I enjoyed working with Richard through the years. We had a lot of laughs. I haven't seen him since I retired, but have fond memories.
