Doris Garrison Obituary

Doris J. Garrison (nee Stevens), 77, of Hopewell Township died peacefully at home Tuesday morning February 4, 2014. The wife of William J. Garrison Sr., Doris was born in Bridgeton on December 18, 1936 and was the daughter of the late Louis and Blanche Tyler Stevens. She was a lifelong area resident; having lived at her current address for six years and before that in the Pittsgrove and Elmer areas. She was a 1956 graduate of Bridgeton High School. Doris retired as a broker realtor in 2006. She managed Coldwell Banker-The Pino Agency in their Elmer office. Previous to that she managed Clover Realty. Prior to working in real estate, she was a dental assistant to Dr. Paul Morita in Bridgeton. Mrs. Garrison was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader of the troop sponsored by Woodruff United Methodist Church. She loved being active in her children and grandchildren's lives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Bill Garrison Jr. (Joyce), Terry Settrella (Jon) and Roger Garrison Sr. (Dawn), five grandchildren, Roger Garrison Jr. (Melanie), William Garrison III (Lindsay), Ryen Garrison (Bethany), Drew Garrison (fiance Heather Baker) and Jesse Settrella (fiance Alyssa Cruzan) and one great grandson, Asher Garrison. She is also survived by sisters, Joan Frazer (Charles), Betty Lou Shelton (Verdie) and Lois Miller (Gordon) and a brother-in-law, Charles Garrison III. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the FREITAG FUNERAL HOME, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton on Friday evening February 7th at 7 o'clock where friends will be received from 5:30 until 7. Pastor Donald Polk of the Aldine United Methodist Church will officiate. The burial will take place privately at Olivet Cemetery in Pittsgrove Township. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Garrison's memory are requested to Ranch Hope, 37 Sawmill Rd., Alloway, NJ 08001. Dear Bill,
I was so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. I remember meeting her shortly after we met in 9th grade back in the 70's. Your mom was always so pretty and so kind. I know that she will be dearly missed by so many. I am sending my very best to you and your family during this very difficult time.

Dear Bill and Family, We are sorry we could not attend Doris's service, but Jack is in the hospital. He had a total hip seven years ago and it got infected and had to come out.
