HOWARD EIFERT Obituary

Howard M. Eifert Elmer, NJ Howard M. Eifert, of Elmer, NJ, passed away Monday, December 1, 2014 at his current home in Peter Becker Community, Harleysville, PA. Born on October 28, 1921 in Aura, he lived to be 93 years old. Howard was the son of Fred & Theresa (Mirth) Eifert, and he was raised in and lived his adult life in Elmer. Upon graduating from Bridgeton High School, he was employed by DuPont in Deepwater until he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and became a pilot during WWII. As a 1st Lieutenant, he flew C-47's as a co-pilot stationed in England and included paratroop drops on D-Day and during other significant European campaigns. He returned from the war to his job at DuPont as a lab technician until his retirement. Howard sought knowledge to achieve excellence in all his life endeavors. He began by building his home and farm for himself and his family outside of Elmer. His vegetable gardens, orchards, and farm animals provided all the food his family needed and more to share and sell. He was an avid hunter and in later years, he became an avid boater and fisherman as well. Howard was a lifelong member of the VFW Post #1259 in Elmer. As a boat owner, he sought education from and became a leader in the Delsea Power Squadron, a group which seeks to educate people in boating safety. He also enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife of 69 years, Marie (Wesemann). In addition to his wife, Howard is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Helene Marie & Tom Girard; his son & daughter-in-law, Fred & Blanca Eifert; his grandchildren, Andrea Morrison, Nathaniel Girard, Katherine Kane, Andrew, Eric, Matthew, and Mark Eifert, Emily Brown, and Ian Eifert; and his great-grandchildren, Hannah Schierbaum, and Trevor and Julia Morrison. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Eric, in April of 2014, his brother, Fred, killed in service during WWII, and his sisters, Penny Stetler and Ida Quinn. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 3 PM today in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, 27 Richwood Road, Elmer, NJ.
