Doris Norma Blom, age 90, entered eternal life on May 8, 2014 at Pitman Manor in Pitman, New Jersey. She was born on January 16, 1924 in Newark, New Jersey to Edmund and Antoinette Remacle. Doris grew up in Nutley, New Jersey. She graduated from Nutley High School and was a registered nurse, graduating from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing, Newark, New Jersey (now Frances M. McLaughlin Division of Nursing, Bloomfield College, Bloomfield, NJ). She was also a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corp. She retired from Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ. She volunteered with Girl Scouts and was actively involved for many years with ARC of Bergen/Passaic County, volunteered for 21 years with RSVP of Ocean County, and volunteered at Pitman Manor where she worked with the United Methodist Woman, Bible studies and helped with patient activities and also for Ranch Hope. Doris is survived by her daughters Linnea Knecht (Peter) of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Robin Rossbach (Kevin) of Abingdon, Maryland, and Jill Kane (Thomas) of Wayne, New Jersey, 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Bob of 65 years, her son Kristofer Blom and sister Eileen Wagner. A Memorial Service will be held at Pitman United Methodist Church, 758 N. Broadway, Pitman, New Jersey at 10:00 am, on Monday, June 23, 2014 with a luncheon immediately following. A brief service will be held following the luncheon at Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Monroe Township, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the UMHNJ Fellowship. Please indicate Pitman Manor in the memo area and mail to Pitman Manor, 535 N.
