Susanna Marie (Quinnette) Edwards, longtime resident of Woodstown, died at the age of 81 on Monday, July 22, 2013 at Churchman Village, Newark, DE. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, the former mayor of Woodstown, Jan R. Edwards, and was the daughter of the late Richard O. Quinnette and Mary (Cossabone) Quinnette. Susanna was born in Philadelphia and moved to the Salem County area as a child. She attended Alloway Elementary School and was a graduate of the 1950 class of Woodstown High School. She had a very creative mind and was an accomplished seamstress, pastry chef, and floral designer. Susanna was a 63 year member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Woodstown, where she held several positions over the years including Sunday School Superintendent, floral director, choir member, costume designer of the Asbury Players, and chairperson of the holiday decorating committee. Susanna was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Woodstown Historical Society, the Women's Club of Woodstown, and a founding member of "Stitch & Chat", a group of friends who have met once a week for over 20 years to create needlework designs that she gave to friends and family. In their younger years, Susanna and Jan were active members of several bowling leagues at the Woodstown Bowling Alley and were season ticket holders for the Philadelphia Flyers games. Susanna is survived by her children, Rick and Shirlet Edwards, of Landenburg, PA; Bonnie and Dan Hoffman, of Woodstown; and Kevin and Sheila Edwards of Towanda, Kansas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sharon Edwards, Joel (Amy) Edwards, Deanna (Bill) Hoffman-Bowling, David (Melissa) Edwards, Tony Edwards, and eight great-grandchildren. Aside from her parents and husband, Susanna was predeceased by her brother, Richard O. Quinnette, Jr., and her grandson, Daniel W. Hoffman, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Friday, July 26th in the H.T. LAYTON FUNERAL HOME, 102 S. Main St., Woodstown, where friends are invited to visit from 1:30 PM until the time of service. Burial will be in Lawnside Cemetery in Pilesgrove. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of Asbury U. M. Church, 149 South Main St., Woodstown, NJ 08098.
