Richard R. Huffam II, 63, of Marshfield, formerly a longtime resident of Hanover, passed away surrounded by family, Saturday, July 13, 2013, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. The son of the late Richard and Patricia (Shruhan) Huffam, he was born in Boston, May 25, 1950. Richard was raised and educated in Natick and proudly served his country in the Air Force in Vietnam. He later became a police officer with the MDC and retired from the Massachusetts State Police as a sergeant. His devotion to others continued in his retirement, he volunteered driving cancer patients to and from cancer treatments. After his retirement, Richard and his wife divided their time between their homes in Marshfield and Florida. Richard was an avid golfer and was proud of his hole-in-one on the 8th hole at South Shore Country Club. Richard was the devoted husband of Cathey (Strong) Huffam; loving father of Laura Johnson, her husband Stephen, and their children, Stevie, Will and Ally of Pembroke, and Richard Huffam III his wife, Natasha, and their children, Madelyn, Rowan, Emerson and Quin of West Tisbury. He was the brother of Doris Isabelle of N.H., Craig Huffam of Framingham, Bob Huffam of Medway and Lynne Astin of Mendon. Also survived by seven nieces and nephews. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte. 53, in Hanover, Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. Funeral home service Thursday at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
