Sam was a shipmate on the Columbus in 1957-59. He was one of the most likable young officers in the wardroom. I still rememember his laugh. He obviously enjoyed his assigment to the Columbus and served his country well. I learned of Sam's death from Bob Alessandro (another shipmate) who had a mutual friend with Sam.

Sincere sympathy to Mary Jean, Vince, Father Brian, and the whole family, from all of us here on the board of American Catholic Press. Sam was a loyal director, a cherished friend, and a devout supporter of the Church, in countless ways. Attached is a photo from the first ACP event he and Mary Jean attended, our 1991 benefit concert.

To my dear family members,
I send this note in sadness for all of you and yours. I know Sammy for his kindness, laughter, and his generous spirit. He was a loving family man.
He will be missed for he was loved by all.
My prayers and hope is that all will be able to heal quickly as I know that would be his desire.
The only joy I now know is that he has joined all of those who have gone on before him...Argento's and Caruso's alike.
In Christ and with His love always,
Antoinette M. Caruso (Toni)
