So sad. I loved Sparky's smile and humility, always giving credit to the other people around him. Seemed -- from any interviews I saw him do -- that he was a funny guy, too. Maybe even a little Yogi Berra-like with his quotes!

RIP, Sparky, and may God comfort your family and friends. Very sad day in Reds history. :(

My condolences to Sparky's family. He was an excellent manager and a truly wonderful person, one who was respected by the players and fans alike. Rest in peace Sparky knowing that you are in your own Field of Dreams.

God has called a beloved man home. If each of us takes just a small portion of what Mr. 'Sparky" Anderson offered the world will be a better place. His Love, dedication and leadership touched many lives. Lets all strive to put more SPARK in or lives. God Bless everyone, especially his family and friends.

Great manager ... classy guy ... he'll be missed!

The whole world is a little darker now that the "Main Spark" is gone. We'll miss you Sparky.

My sympathies. He was a part of providing good moments when he managed the Reds.

What a great all-time baseball manager who will go down in the baseball history books. Sparky is the reason why I chose to follow the Reds and have been since the "Big Red Machine" year in 1975. There are so many "GREAT ONES" who are already missing him today and they are: Morgan, Foster, Bench, Rose, and etc, who will keep Sparky in their hearts forever. I sure hope this upocoming Reds 2012 season will honor Sparky in some way, for example, playing the season in his memory, choose a plaque or a statue and a full-size picture of him placed near the outfield so the players can go up to touch him for good luck before every home game starts. We certainly know that Sparky will have the best seat in the house looking down at the Reds team rooting us on for another great season and making it all the way to the World Series.

May you rest in peace. You will be missed. I grew up in the Cincy area but have lived in the Tampa area for over 26 years and the name Sparky Anderson still lights up my face whenever I hear it. You are one of the "Greats". May god look after you now.

Very saddened by this news about the beloved coach Sparky. I am from Cincinnati and grew up during the time of the Big Red machine! He was one of the best! My prayers go out to his family and the organization.
