ETHINGTON, Peter R. "Bob" (Age 84) Passed away October 27, 2013 at Royal Park Care Center in Spokane, succumbing to complications of a stroke suffered September 16, 2013. Bob was born March 19, 1929 in Casa Grande, AZ, the last of seven children born to Peter H. and Anna T. (Phillips) Ethington. He also was their last surviving child. Bob grew up on his parents' farm west of Casa Grande. He attended Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia. He went on to graduate from Casa Grande Union High School before attending the University of Arizona and graduating from Arizona State University. He taught Casa Grande junior high school before retiring and moving to Ahwatukee. During the 1960's he also served on the Grand Canyon College (now University) Board of Trustees. He and wife Melba, who celebrated their 65th anniversary September 2, 2013, spent their summers in Spokane to be nearer to their son, Rob, and his daughter, Amber. In addition to Melba and Rob, he is survived by their daughter Jennifer Garcia and her husband Chuck of Chiang Mai, Thailand; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He will always be remembered by his family for his sense of humor, generosity and compassion. The family asks that those wanting to remember Bob feel free to make donations in his name to Arthritis Foundation Inc., 1330 W. Peachtree St., Suite 100, Atlanta, GA 30309-2943. There will be a memorial gathering for Bob's friends and family at their Ahwatukee home from 2 pm to 4 pm Saturday, December 21, 2013.
