Deputy Hopper was my 5th grade D.A.R.E teacher. Her daughter Maddie is in my grade at Greenon and my heart goes out to her and her family. It is always sad to see someone die especially someone here to keep us safe. Nothing in this wicked world is permanent not even our worries. May Deputy Suzanne rest in peace forever more.

I wrote this poem for Deputy Hopper. I did the best I could. Rest in peace Deputy Hopper. You will never be forgotten!

Deputy Suzanne Whaughtel Hopper

You left this earth so sudden
no time to say goodbye
you left behind so many things
and we ask our Dear Lord 'why?'

You were an amazing person
you cared for everyone
you were a wonderful Deputy
you did a job well done.

You touched the lives of many
your memory will live on
you meant a lot to everyone
and we're all so sad your gone.

You helped so many people
you cared about us all
even the ones you didn't know
for them you took the fall.

We not only lost a Deputy
we lost a special friend
who was always there for us
until the very end.

We'll never forget your kindness
or your beautiful smile
or your calming gentle ways
you made everything worthwhile.

So until we meet again
we'll keep you in our hearts
and all the wonderful memories
that we shared from the start.

We'll miss you Deputy Hopper
A true hero you were born
we salute you one last time
for 'you' we will forever mourn.

Rest in peace dear friend. You are a wonderful person. Last week was one of the hardest weeks of our lives and many more weeks, months and years to come. We miss you but know that you are smiling down on us all and siting on the sholder of all those out there on the streets every day.
After the service last Friday as we were turning to walk back I looked to my right and there was the most beautiful sunset starting over the clouds and it was very calming to me as in a way of you letting us all know that you know how much pain we are in but that you are ok and will always be here with us all. We miss you Suzanne rest in peace my friend.

Simply knowing that Deputy Hopper was a Northwestern Alumni and former employee at Young's Jersey Dairy, two traits that I share with Deputy Hopper, make me feel a little closer to her. She was greatly loved and will be missed. A hero to us all.

Dear Bonnie, We (James and Jackie Brewster) send our heartfelt condolences to you, Emma, and all your family. Nikki and Mason Callihan are prayerfully with you, too. We all have hope in the resurrection of us all with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. You are my sister and a tried and true friend of my husband, James, at St. John Baptist Church. We are both on the mend, nevertheless, we were there with all of you in spirit. Sincerely, The Brewsters

Just refelcting back on last week...wow what a hard week! I just want to Thank all of the Clark County Deputies, their families, our community, First Chrisitan Church, Littleton and Rue Funeral Home, Columbus, OH Law Enforcement, all the Law Enforcement Agencies from around the United States, and all those others that made the Tribute to Suzanne's life one the I will never forget.

As I was standing at the cementary on Friday, looking out over a sea of Uniformed Law Enforcement and the snow was coming down it was so beautiful just like Suzanne and the life she lived! It was so quiet...you didn't hear a sound. I am so proud to have been a part of this special tribute to Suzanne.

As a wife of a Deputy and a mother of 2 small children, this was so such a hard day. When Sheriff Kelly handed Suzanne's son the flag...I just broke down into tears! As did so many others.

And when the dispatch called out her final call to her badge# and there was no answer and the tone dropped...my heart dropped as well. It was something that I never want to hear ever again in my lifetime.

As we exited the cementary that day...a day that was so bitterly cold, windy, snowing....I got into Scott's cruiser...I noticed that the snow had stopped and the wind wasn't as strong....in the sky there was a burst of a little sunlight peeking through the clouds and I knew that Suzanne was home.

Rest In Peace Suzanne! God Bless You! You will never be forgotten!

I just can't find the words to say how very sorry I am for your loss. My heart goes out to the family and Deputy Hoppers law enforcement family It just sickens my stomach to think this awful act happened. I had an uncle and 2 cousins which all is from the same family, a father and 2 sons that were Deputy's.We all were proud of them but in the same sense worried for their safety. They put their lives on the line each and everyday for all of us. Since this evil act happened, I think about it everyday. I get up thinking of Deputy Hopper and go to bed thinking of her. So I think I speak for the whole communtity when I say that when you cry, we cry, when you hurt, we hurt. We had a beautiful angel on earth to protect us and we thank her so very much for her service. What a brave angel. For the department, every time you go on a call, remember Deputy Hopper still has your back from afar. She'll be the angel sitting on your shoulder as she rides along. My prayers and deepest deepest sympathy to you all. She has 1 last reward to recieve. It's from her heavenly father. RIP Deputy Hopper

What a tragic senseless loss for everyone in Clark county. Suzanne was taken too early from all of us. She was a bright spot in the lives of so many people. May God Bless her family and friends and co-workers in the days, weeks, months, and years to come. To her children, your mother was an Angel on Earth...you are to carry on her legacy and keep her memory alive in your hearts and lives everyday. May you find peace and comfort in those around you and know that you have your own Guardian Angel watching over you. We may never understand why this happened, but know that God has a plan for each of us and when our work here on Earth is done, He calls us Home. Suzanne has been called Home.
January 09, 2011
Thank you for your service and God Bless.

May God continue to hold this family in his loving embrace during this difficult time.
January 09, 2011
I can not tell you how I felt when I heard of your death. Yet when I looked into the eyes of Sherrif Ralph Underwood I felt as if I had knoen you a lifetime. As I prayed with him, I felt a peace come over us that assured me you were in a better place. Although this is true it still does not soften the fact you were taken so tragically. I pray for the family that the Lord will give them a peace that surpasses all understanding. I pray for healing in the name of Jesus. I pray that in her death people may realize the true light that she was. I pray that many may come to know Jesus. It is amazing how God has used you as a vessel to work through in so many lives. God bless you as you rest in the arms of God. I will see you soon Suzanne. It is there we will meet for the first time and for that I praise God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To the Family of Deputy Hopper,

AT TIMES LIKE THESE YOU WILL SEE ONLY ONE SET OF FOOTPRINTS IN THE SNOW. THIS IS WHEN THE LORD IS NOW CARRYING YOU, AND KNOW THAT THOSE FOOTPRINTS BELONG TO HIM.
When you have lost something, that means you can't find it. You haven't lost a Deputy. You haven't lost a mother, or a wife or a sister. Why? Because we all know where Suzanne is. She is an Angel that God has chosen to relocate to Heaven.
May God give you the extra strength to except he has chosen to take your Angel to heaven with him.
January 08, 2011
GOD BLESS OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU

I did not know Deputy Suzanne Waughtel Hopper but I knew other offices that did. I went to the funeral service and to the burial to show my support and found out first hand why she will be missed so much. The service was very moving (although I did not know her it was still extremely hard to fight back the tears especially at the burial where there was a last call on the radio – this is the saddest thing to hear for a law enforcement officer). Hats off to those who put the service together, Clark County, Columbus PD and all those who helped did an outstanding job and excelled at paying the ultimate tribute to such a fine public servant. Rest in Peace Suzanne Waughtel Hopper.
January 08, 2011

Words cannot express what needs to be said to her immediate family at this time.

I watched as they took Suzanne to the church on thursday, I drove by the stream of police cars on 68 this morning, I watched from work the line of police cars and firetrucks come up villa road about 10am, my daughter watched from the school as she passed by and I took my daughter to the cemetary after everyone had left. You have had such an impact on everyone young and old, near and far. I didnt know you well but my sister did. God bless your family and thank you for serving clark county.

Suzanne was my classmate and friend at Northwestern from elementary school through our '89 graduation. Her loss hasn't left my mind since learning the news last weekend, and I'm so very sad for her family, friends and colleagues. I'm honored to have a whimsical, funny, yet caring note from her in my high school yearbook, and I've read it numerous times this difficult week. I last spoke with Suzanne at our reunion in 1999, when she was telling me excitedly about her new job with the Clark County Sheriff. Even though she is no longer with us in this world, I hope everyone can take some comfort knowing that her strong, vibrant spirit will always live on.
January 07, 2011
I am so sorry for the loss of Suzanne. She was a beautiful person inside and out. May God be with all of her family and friends.
January 07, 2011
I didn't know Officer Hoppper personally but I thank her and respect her for her service. My heart and prayers go out to her family and friends. My Grandfather was Officer Charles A. Holt who was killed in the line of duty in 1932. Watching all of this makes me think of how my Grandmother and my Dad and his sister and brother must have felt when they heard of my Grandfathers death. We never know from one day to the next and we need to live our lives to the fullest. Although it was a sad time for Suzanne's family it was heartfelt to see the outpour of love. God Bless!!

Suzanne was truly an inspiration to all she knew and served. May we all learn from her example. May God be glorified through this tragedy; for heavan has gained an angle and we have lost a hero. If Suzanne didn't embody the love of Christ Jesus, then I don't know who does. For even Jesus came to serve, not to be served and Suzanne truly had a servants heart; with which she loved all she came into contact with.

SHE STARTS THE DAY

SHE STARTS THE DAY WITH A LITTLE PRAYER
GATHERING HER GEAR WITH SUCH GREAT CARE
SHE'S STRONG AND WELL TRAINED
AND READY TO REPORT
SHE KNOWS WHAT SHE DOES IS OUT OF THE SORT
SHE LOVES HER JOB AND GIVES IT HER ALL
DAY IN AND DAY OUT SHE ANSWERS THE CALL
EACH LIFE SHE TOUCHES MAKES HER STRONGER INSIDE
SHE WEARS THE STAR WITH HONORABLE PRIDE
SHE FOLLOWS UP ON THE CHOICES SHE'S MADE
GOING BACK TO THE PLACES SHE RENDERED THE AID
CHECKING UP ON THE HUSBAND WHO LOST HIS WIFE
MAKING SURE HE IS ABLE TO GO ON WITH HIS LIFE
TALKS TO THE TEEN WALKING ON THE STREET
AND ALWAYS CALLS THIS HER DAILY BEAT
MAKING SURE EACH ONE THAT CROSSES HER PATH
IS NOT LEFT BEHIND ALONE IN THE RATH
SHE KNOWS THAT ONE DAY IT COULD COME TO AN END
BUT THIS IS HER CALLING AND SHE WILL NOT BEND
SHE WAS READY TO SERVE
AND READY TO PROTECT
NOW IT'S OUR TIME TO PAY HER RESPECT
JOIN HEARTS AND JOIN VOICES
FOR ALL OF HER CHOICES
ARE WHAT SHE KNEW BEST
WHICH WAS TO GIVE TO THE REST
SO TAKE THE TIME TO SAY GOOD BYE
AND REMEMBER THAT SHE CAN NOW FLY
SHE AND ALL THE OTHER FALLEN
ARE GUARDIAN ANGELS WHO KNEW THEIR CALLING
MAY GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY AND
MAY YOU REST IN PEACE.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE

May god watch over her family and bring them comfort. For her children you should be nothing but proud of your mom. From everything I have heard she was an amazing person. As a wife of a deployed soldier I know the risks that are taken to protect and serve. Thank you Deputy Harper for watching over our community for so long and for being so dedicated. God Bless. The last time I saw her, I was working at the Clark State Performing Arts Center. I was working a D.A.R.E. concert that day, and she was there in uniform assisting. I remember being so pleasantly surprised to see her there. I can remember so well standing in the green room and chatting a few moments before we each had to return to our respective duties. Prayers for comfort and healing for her family and friends. I wish I could be home to pay my respects. Thank you, Suzanne, for your service. God bless you.

*End Of Watch*
When a Deputy lies down for the final time,
When her tour of duty comes to the end of the line.
"End of Watch" is the term that's said,
To simply say an Officer's dead.

As for me, I'd like to say,
I wish I'd lived for one more day.
But if this is the day I'm laid to rest,
I hope I'm remebered for doing my best.

I hope I did my job well,
I pray I was fighting when i fell,
I want to be known for doing it right,
Even if the job takes me into the night.

I hope I was a model to all,
To wear this badge while standing tall.
To be known as having served with my Heart.
To be remebered for doing my part.

Now lay me down and let me rest,
And go out there and do your best.
Wear your uniform and badge well,
Let's go out there and give 'em hell.

For your're on watch at the end of mine,
And I hope you don't have to lay it on the line.
But walk with pride, and with little fear,
I've got your back because I'm still here.

This was more than a job; it was my life you see,
And I know you will mourn, but remember me.
Live your lives in effort to preserve,
My life, my motto, "To Protect and Serve".

I lost my son, also a police officer, in March of 2009. I listen to a voice mail from him almost every day. It draws me closer to him. In the weeks and months ahead, I pray that you will sense a closeness to Suzanne. May God give you peace. Your daughter is in His presence.

"We may never understand it,
the risks these brave ones take,
but occasionally we see a bit
of the difference their lives make.

Some do it for the action,
others find it a callin'.
All find the satisfaction,
and few become the fallen.

Being an officer is what she loved,
To her as good as it gets.
Law was what she dreamed of,
She would have no regrets.

And though it saddens all of us
to lose her in this way
She knew how an officer must
Live life to the fullest everyday."

Officer Down
By: Joanna Robinson Perdue

It will never be easy to understand the events that afternoon
While some thanked God for another year, one Deputy lost her life too soon.

Theres no such thing as routine patrol, we learn throughout the years;
And January 1st was no exception, and it brought a town to tears.

12 years of service she gave to us, a model Deputy they say;
She paid the ultimate sacrifice, and gave her life that day.

Not only was she a Deputy, but a daughter, a mother, a wife;
She was a friend to many others, and had a passion for bringing dark to light.

Now when we sign those papers, to protect to serve and defend;
Sometimes we take for granted, that any day that contract could end.

As I stand here and salute you, Suzanne, a black stripe across my badge;
Memories race all through my head, and for those I cant be sad.

So as we fare you goodbye and smile as tears run down our face;
We smile because our Sister Deputy, you know that any day wed take your place.
January 06, 2011
I light this candle in the memory of this brave officer, I thanks you & her family for your service to protect this community. We Pray she will Rest In Peace & that God will comfort her family & department.

We are so very sorry for your loss. I work in the office at the Sheriff's Office and I just wanted to share a memory of sweet Suzanne....when she would come into the office she never failed to smile that beautiful smile of hers and say, "hi Pammie". If I would be standing she always gave me a hug. When my husband Ralph was promoted to Sergeant in 1999, there were 3 of us who waited to see the outcome of the promotion....myself, a co-worker in the office and beautiful Suzanne. I will never forget that. She was so excited for Ralph. You have a beautiful daughter who is now a beautiful angel in Heaven. May she rest in peace. Our prayers are with you.
Love, Ralph and Pam Underwood

I have lived in the Enon area since 1997. It is normally a quiet little village but,the 1st day of the New Year 2011 had different plans for a lot of peoples lives. May God Bless all that were involved and my heart aches for the loss of a fine officer. I appreciate the protection that Clark county police officers give us each and every day. It takes a special person to be this brave to wake up each morning and wonder if this will be there last. Everything happens for a reason and we may never know the reason for this senseless act of selfishness. God Bless!

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

You've got a big heart.
Keep it filled with happiness.

A Reminiscence

YES, thou art gone! and never more
Thy sunny smile shall gladden me;
But I may pass the old church door,
And pace the floor that covers thee.

May stand upon the cold, damp stone,
And think that, frozen, lies below
The lightest heart that I have known,
The kindest I shall ever know.

Yet, though I cannot see thee more,
'Tis still a comfort to have seen;
And though thy transient life is o'er,
'Tis sweet to think that thou hast been;

To think a soul so near divine,
Within a form so angel fair,
United to a heart like thine,
Has gladdened once our humble sphere.

I met Deputy Suzanne when she was a DARE officer at Rolling Hills. She was very good with the students, and very friendly to work with. Then, I got to see her again through Safety Village when my son was 5. Our son has some physical disablilities, and I was very nervous when dropping him off for the first session. When I saw who was helping teach the class I was relieved. Suzanne reassured me that Justin would be just fine, and he was. She took him under her wing, and he had a blast. My husband and I still remember the "graduation" fondly, and how well she took care of our boy. What a wonderful heart she had. She will be deeply missed. May she rest in peace. Heartfelt thoughts go out to her family, too.

I woke up to the TV mentioning my old Police Academy friends name. As I opened my eyes I saw the beautiful face of Susan. I could not believe it was real. Susan and with a couple of other gals, became friends years ago. We laughed, supported and enjoyed each others friendship. What a wonderful person she will always be. We reconnected years later as I remarried and moved to Clark County. I was so proud that she continued her Law Enforcement Career. I knew how much it meant to all of us girls back then. Its said that God only takes the best for heaven. Her purpose was done and rest assured we will all see her again someday. May God give you all Peace and understanding...

Remember Me

To the Living, I am gone,
To the sorrowful, I will never return;
To the angry, I was cheated.
But to the happy, I am at peace.
To the faithful, I have never left.
Talk to me, and I will hear,
your prayers, they comfort me,
your laughter makes me laugh,
but don't weep for me as I have my reward,
I am with the Father and he will never let me perish,
The Lord comforts me, and longs to comfort you.
So be happy my family and don't despair,
I am in good hands, waiting for the day when
the Lord calls you to come home.

Dear Bauer Family,

Suzanne was a very dear friend of mine in college. I also attended ATI/OSU. I lost touch with Suzanne, but never forgot her laughter or her smile. Please accept my heartfelt condolences for the whole family. I am a better person to have shared a small part of her life. I will miss her dearly.
January 04, 2011
Our deepest sympathy to the Hopper (Waughtel) family and especially her children. We are so very sorry for the loss of Suzanne...your daughter, your mother, your wife...and someone I call a friend! We were blessed to have met Suzanne this past summer...although the meeting was due to my son's truck being submerged in Mad River...I will never forget her support, her assistance...her caring and concern that she showed towards our family and especially my son. She extended her cell phone number to me and stayed in contact with me and my son throughout the entire weekend, unitl we finally removed the truck from the river. I still remember the laughs we shared over this situation and her seeing the "good in everyone" and the "positive" in any "negative" situation. I remember her telling me...your son is a great kid! I am in shock over her passing and I am just very, very sad. All of us, our community has truly lost an angel...an angel that was walking amongst us. I feel honored to have known Suzanne if ever so briefly and I morn her loss. May her family find peace and strength in her memories. May all of us be a little bit better people in honor of her life. I will never forget Deputy Suzanne Hopper! God Bless her and her family!

My thoughts and prayers are with Deputy Hopper's family, Co-workers and our community. Continue to find comfort in God's word and knowing that Suzanne is with him. R.I.P Suzanne

My thoughts and prayers go out to Suzannes family. I went to NWHS with Suzanne. We were both in FFA and we ran track together. I have many great memories of Suzanne that I will cherish. Our paths crossed again when she was starting her law enforcement career. She worked for the German Township Police Dept. with my husband. This horrible act of violence is one of those things you pray never happens, but is always in the back of your mind every time your loved one goes to work. Until someone you love wears a badge you can't really understand what it is like. But I pray that people will wake up and realize that it's the dedication, sacrifice and the love of the job that drives law enforcement officers like Suzanne to keep us safe. May God Bless you and I thank you for serving our community in such a positive way.
January 04, 2011
It is hard enough to have lost a co-worker and a member of the Police-Fire-EMS community, but to have known them personally makes it all the harder. God bless Suzanne for her sacrifice, her family for their loss, and may God be with all those that worked with her and knew her. Words alone cannot express the sorrow we feel for her and her family, her law enforcement family, and those in the other public services that worked with and beside her in our daily lives. May her sacrifice never be forgotten and not be in vain.
January 04, 2011
My thoughts and prayers are with the Hopper family. My husband worked with Suzanne and has nothing but wonderful things to say of her service to Clark County. As a wife of a police officer, my heart bleeds for all of Suzanne's family and close friends. May you all find the strength to comfort each other during this difficult time.

God bless the family of officer Hopper. May we all appreciate the safety we we feel as we leave our homes and return daily knowing that that safety comes at a cost by officers like her that are there to provide the security of our freedom to live without fear of harm in this great country of ours. Officer Hopper paid the ultimate price to insure that. Thank you officer Hopper, may your sacrifice be felt by all you served.

To Suzanne's Daughter and Son:

What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why your mother had to leave this earth so soon, or why she left before either of you or any of us were ready to say good-bye, but, little by little may you both begin to realize that even though your mother has passed she lived and has left memories to beautiful to forget.
January 04, 2011
Charlie,

Although it's difficult today, to see beyond the sorrow. May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow.

Suzanne,

I miss you so much that words can not express. You are a wonderful best friend. I remember the day that we first met while we were working at the Sheriff's Office and we just clicked right away and even after I retired we stayed so close. We had a lot of good times and stories over the years. You weren't only my best friend, you were an awesome family friend to not only Adam and AJ but to the rest of my family. Rest in Peace Suzanne. I love You.

"Follow Me, Fallen Sister, I'll Show You The Way."
"Your Duty Has Ended, Your Work Is Now Through."
"Come Hang Your Hat Beside Mine, I'm A Cop, Too."

I feel blessed to have someone that is willing to put themselves in front to protect the lives of others. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Sending our deepest sympathy from Kentucky. My husband is a 20 year veteran of the Kentucky State Police. This is a moment in time you can only understand if someone in your heart wears a badge. My heart breaks for her family because their worst nightmare was recognized, she gave the ultimate sacrifice. To the members of her department that stood for her that day, my prayers go to you for defending her well. I know from someone outside of this profession, that may be hard to understand. But everyday, while you are sleeping safe in your home, someones mother, father, husband, wife, best friend, son, or daughter is protecting you and giving you that right. God speed Deputy Hopper!
January 03, 2011

I am so saddened by the death of a friend, Suzi Hopper. I met Suzi years ago when I lived in the Springfield area and worked for the Clark County Prosecutor. Even though I moved away from Clark County, Suzi and I found our paths crossing many times over the following years. I had the great privilege of knowing her as a friend, then a student, and finally as a fellow member in the greater criminal justice community; a friendship & professional relationship that developed & continued until January 1, 2011. Suz went into law enforcement knowing she wanted to protect and serve the public and it was a career choice she never regretted. She frequently spoke to my classes at Sinclair CC, discussing the issues facing and the rewards of being in law enforcement including the balancing of work, family, volunteerism, and service to others. Her insight helped and guided many of our current and next generation of criminal justice/law enforcement professionals. She embodied everything that a "Peace Officer" should be. We need to remember that it is not how an officer died but how they lived. Deputy Hopper was the epitome of what we all should strive for. Our community has suffered a tremendous loss.
January 03, 2011
I am a 5th grade teacher at Park Layne Elementary in New Carlisle and Deputy Suzanne was the DARE officer in my classroom for 2-3 years. She was always smiling and we had fun joking around with the kids. I remember her telling us about her children and how much she loved what she did. She was a positive role model for all the children and especially the girls. My prayers are with Deputy Suzanne's children and her husband. May God bless them with a peace that none of us can comprehend.
January 03, 2011

As I dressed this morning I went to my drawer and took out my black mourning band. I placed it around my gold shield as I have too many times before, but today was different...it was personal. Most of my law enforcement career has been in Clark County and even though I never met Deputy Hopper she is still part of our law enforcement family. To the family and my friends at the Sheriff's Department please know that Suzanne is being honored across the United States and across my badge. I wish I could take away this pain, but I can only share it. To all who knew her I give you these words...
Our Father has called for me, so I must go. Grieve not, for my absence from your lives is only temporary. We shall be together again. When that day comes, bring all of our memories with you, and we will sit down and share them for eternity.

I've never heard a single soul say a negative thing about her. She was so much fun to talk with, always upbeat with a great sense of humor. She will greatly missed by all who had the good fortune to know her. God bless her family and bring them comfort in this time of grief.

To the Waughtel/Hopper family - as I read through the entries in this book, I was lifted and inspired by getting to know Suzanne Waughtel Hopper. Not just a great deputy with a sweet and ready smile, but a fantastic and involved mother with an active career. Not easy to do! But it was all cut short with a senseless act.
I greatly appreciate the tremendous service the CCSO provides for my loved ones living in the county - keeping them safe and secure. Suzanne paid the ultimate, final price exacted from a peace officer - the least we can do is to support your family with prayer and continued wishes that you know this community and many more surrounding hold your daughter/wife/mother (and more) in the highest esteem and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for her service and sacrifice. There is no wreath or flower arrangement big enough - no granite statue tall enough - not enough guns to fire in salute long enough; thank you is inadequate. We'd all just rather you had her back.
January 03, 2011
With deepest sympathy to the family and fellow officers of Suzanne Hopper.
January 03, 2011
Although I did not know Suzanne I share in your grief and loss. May you find peace in knowing that she loved her job.
January 03, 2011
To the family and friends of this fine officer, our family will keep you in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. May the peace of God surround you and may your memories of a life well lived sustain you.
January 03, 2011
As a future police officer i thank Deputy Hopper for her service. MY prayers go out to her family and friends and to all of her fellow police officers
January 03, 2011
To Dep. Hopper's Fmily,
We do this job always knowing that danger lurks around every corner. I'm sure Deputy Hopper did this job knowing that very thing, and with knowing that I'm sure se did it bravely. To protect the weak, the innocent and the victims of this world. It is with my deepest sympothies that I salute her for doing the job that she chose to do. To her family I add, I can't know the pain that you're feeling with her loss, but I pray that peace comes to you quickly. I'm sure Deputy Hopper would have wanted you not to be sad. I know I wouldn't want my family to be sad.
Sincerely,
Deputy Shad Axe

January 03, 2011
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Born to be By: Patricia Robinson-1/03/10-1pm
Deputy Suzanne Hopper
They are born to be-a part of their communities.
Born to serve, to protect-as they do their best.
This passion that the police, fireman have in them-a passion to wear that hat with a brim.
I wonder what a police feels-as his passion becomes real.
That first day on the job-doing their best working hard.
And its even harder for a woman-to stand toe to toe, with policeman.
It’s a passion its their life-as they do their jobs right.
And then when kids come into place-the passion takes on a new day.
Now when you go on the job-dealing with kids and spouse can be hard.
Wanting all of life-a career, family, being a wife.
Living within the police community-is a have too, when you are born to be.
Born to serve and protect-born to learn to do your best.
Then when that first brush with death-be it you or someone else
The real of being a police rings true-but it was what you were born to do.
I wonder did she have time to think-as her life passed by as if a wink.
A with a wink of an eye-did deputy Hopper have time to ask why?
Did she speak with God above-tell him who she .d missed, who she loved.
I want to say to this police born to be-you will be missed in your community.
You served the best you could do-and America says thank you.
Thank you for following your dream-to your community your life will scream.
Screams for many years to come-become you will be missed by everyone.
So to you deputy Suzanne Hopper on this day-thank you for living your dream your way.
January 03, 2011

Clark County had a friend you see, who loved God, Country, You and me.

Our friend went to work day or night
the peace to keep, so you and I could sleep.

She worked the holidays and weekends,
away from family and friends.
To keep this peace for you and me.

Each day this friend put her life on the line to spare yours and mine.

Then one day she paid the ultimate price, she gave her life.

You've done well my friend, patrolling these Clark County streets.
Now it's time to walk on Heaven's beat.

RIP Suzanne 01-01-11
You are a TRUE HERO!

The next time you see a Officer or two, remember they are one of God's Angels in Blue.

And God said; "Blessed are the Peace Makers."

My heart goes out to all who knew and loved your angel. May you find comfort in this writing. My family was sent this upon a tragic loss in 1979 and I have always remember it!

"I'll lend you for a little while,
a child of mine" God said,
"for you to love the while she lives,
and mourn for when she's dead.

It may be two or three short years,
or twenty-two or three,
but will you, till I call her back,
take care of her for me?

She'll bring her charms to gladden you,
and should her stay be brief,
you'll have her lovely memories
as solace for your grief.

I cannot promise she will stay,
since all from earth return,
but there are lessons taught down there
I want this child to learn.

I've looked the wide world over
in my search for teacher's true,
and from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,
I have selected you.

Now will you give her all your love?
Nor think the labor vain?
Nor hate me when I come to call,
to take her back again?"

God fancied he heard the parent's say,
"Dear Lord, thy will be done.
For all the joy the child shall bring,
the risk of grief I'll run.

I'll shelter her with tenderness,
I'll love her while I may,
and for the happiness I've known
forever grateful I'll stay.

But should the angels call for her,
much sooner than I planned,
I'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
and try to understand."

To Deputy Hopper, thank you so much for your service and devotion to your profession. My son worked with you and knew of your committment to your office and your fellow officers. As a wife, mother, and sister-in-law to 3 police officer's, I know that our dedicated men and women risk their lives everyday. They fight the war on the homefront and need to be recognized for their dedication. The Police community is a brotherhood/sisterhood and it just goes to show that officers from all over the world take a moment to recognize this fallen officer and say a silent prayer for her and her family.
My prayers as well go with you.

Thank you for making the ultimate sacrifice for your community & fellow law enforcement officers...may God bless & comfort your family in the coming days...until that day when you can all be together again...it won't be long. "Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore comfort each other with these words." 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Our condolences to the family, friends & the Clark Co. Sheriff Dept. RIP Officer Suzanne Hopper
