Tom and Romey were very special to our family during their time in Clearwater. Our hearts go out to you at this sad time. May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

We met Tom and Romey when we moved to Clearwater in 1983 through an introduction from Tim and Dinah Reath. The connection was immediate and strong. They would join our family for major holidays or impromptu suppers. One Christmas Tom joined Toby in the kitchen to supervise the extraction of a chocolate steam pudding from its mold, a particularly delicate process. When the pudding emerged from the mold unscathed Tom exclaimed,"There is a God!"
Tom and Romey served as surrogate parents to us and surrogate grandparents to our children Taylor and Haley. It was a wonderful arrangement. I can still hear Tom's laugh after made a clever word play or pun. How he loved Ogden Nash. I will always remember his final sermon at Church of the Ascension. It's lessons served me well when I eventually served on a vestry and as a warden.

After we all left Clearwater we were to see them several more times, always in a place special to the four of us: Maine. Twice we visited them in Winter Harbor, and one of those times was the year Tom celebrated his 50th year of service there. Our last time together was the most special of all, when Tom officiated at the wedding of Haley and Mark, on a dock on Sebago Lake.

Father Edwards was my priest my whole childhood as I grew up loving the Episcopal church and am now a church musician. Blessings to his family.

What a lovely man. Tom was the father of my dear friend Claire. He taught me to shuffle cards, listen to the sermon, and inadvertently taught Claire and me to love lobster eating, in Maine. I send all my love in this message to Claire, Wicky, Lacy, and Tom Jr., and especially to Romey. I think Romey and Tom are the only couple I know who have been together longer than their good friends who love them so much, my parents Mary and Dick
McAdoo. A rich life well-lived.
love,
Julie

Dr.Edwards was one of my favorite clergy as I worked with him at Church of the Ascension, Clearwater, Florida. I am an organist and I so much loved his understanding of music and the arts as well as the dark sense of humor we shared and the love of all things French. My best thoughts to Romey and all his family.
