Darcy and Family,

How truly sorry we are for your loss. Terry and I will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

To Ward (S-12, WD-40, Dukes Daddy, Husband, Father, Pop Pop, Friend, Confidant, Marine, Officer, K-9 Officer, Sergeant, Fishing Buddy,)

To each one of our lives you touched you were something different all rolled up in one person. For your officers that worked with you they had respect and admiration. For your fellow officers and soldiers there was never doubt you did not have their backs. For me you were several things.

We started out as Fishing Buddies. We both got in trouble many times for getting home late when the fish were biting. All of the little lakes we found and fished. I guess the statue of limitations is now over for us using the 0464 key (old timers would remember this KEY to the City) to get into the lake behind the now driving range at Highland and E. Bay. The time we got in only to find Karl Wermuth already there. I assume it's OK to talk about the time you caught a GATOR and thought it was the biggest Bass you ever caught. It towed your Ganoe (Cross between a canoe a real boat) all over lake Seminole, then you had to hop the fence they closed on you, to get to your car. All of the Bass we caught and had to give back at Teneroc. Thanks for the Good memories.

The many many Duke tracks. Our relationship went the gambit throughout the years to doing the same job as Sergeants. You were always a welcome site with your smile, personality, calm demeanor, and professionalism. You had the qualities that inspired so many officers that worked with and for you.

Sierra 8 to Sierra 12 you have arrived at your final 10-42 and have called in "10-7".

Love Eddie Buyers

PS. When you 10-56 with Duke and Sierra 6 say Hi for me.

Darcy, My condolences to you and the rest of the family. Ward was a great man and a great cop. I learned a lot from Ward that helped me in life as did many others. Ward and Duke were a great team and partners. I enjoyed doing many demos with them.

May Ward's Soul Rest in Peace and May The Perpetual Light Shine Upon His Soul and The Soul's of All The Dearly Departed. May your family find comfort in God's presence. I knew Ward when I was an LPD Explorer in the 1980's he always made me laugh and taught me a lot. Even though I didn't become a Police Officer and became a RN instead the values he taught me still carried through. He will be greatly missed. God Bless.

Sergeant Dunevant, Sierra 12, was the epitome of a sergeant...troops first and foremost. He put the needs of his officers as his first priority and made sure they were taken care of first. he was inspirational yet hardcore. i tried to pattern myself after his leadership and care of his troops.
