Condolences to Barbara, Michael, Anne and families. The first time I met Hermann, he had brought Michael as a new student to the 1972 Year 11 social at the "new" Timboon Hall supper room. Hermann looked anxious for Michael, but I had been asked by staff to watch out for their arrival and make Michael welcome, introducing him to everyone. This I did. It wasn't too hard! A lovely shy young man like Michael was popular from the beginning and in demand for dancing. But my greater memory was the relief on Hermann's face. He stayed for some time watching on, a loving Dad just wanting his boy to settle into a new school happily.Hermann always remembered me and would see me at the Geelong Show with my kids, regaling me with multiple Timboon Cheese showbags and kind words. I enjoyed occasional meetings at The Mousetrap where he'd take delight in showing me the koala or telling stories about how he met Barbara and how proud he was of Audrey, Anne and Michael and their families. I felt very proud of him later when he used his considerable influence to speak out in defence of refugees. He was an independent thinker and followed through with action. Admirable.Your presence will be greatly missed, Hermann.I truly hope there are gliders in heaven.

Deepest sympathy to the Schulz family. Fond memories of early days as neighbours during the families' time in Vermont Avenue. We remember Hermann as a keen gardener with a green thumb and a warm hospitable nature. Regards Ann Snowdon (friend to Audrey)
