No matter how many years it has been since I have seen my cousins and aunts and uncles....I never forget. I ask God to bless you with a peace that only comes from above. God bless.
Aunt Claire Louise Roupp also sends her condolences on the loss of her brother, your father, grandfather greatgrandfather and friend.
Francis was a true gentleman and a certain WWII hero in the Battle Off Samar. I come to know him while doing research on the loss of my uncle on the HOEL. We became good friends. He was truly a member of the greatest generation. Paul Matthews - USS HOEL Association.
I loved visiting A. Jean and U. Buzz as a kid! There were the trips to the 'farm' and always enjoyed my cousins!
I love you grandpa Hostrander
50 years ago this year, I had the good fortune of moving into a home 2 doors down the road from the Hostrander's on Hendy Creek Road and got to meet Buzz. This would set off a series of positive events with the Hostrander's over the past 5 decades in which I could never have imagined possible. Buzz is a great role model. I am truly fortunate that I was able to know such an outstanding person. A passion of his was gardening. I spent many, many wonderful hours with Buzz and family at his residence as well as the Farm. He taught me gardening. To this day, I talk about him to my wife when we plant our garden. His legacy is his family. Some of which I've known quite well over the years and consider them to be my very best friends. In our world we live in today, there are not enough Buzz Hostrander's. Men like him have a positive impact on their surroundings. He is what is "right" in this country. God blessed me when we moved 2 doors down from Buzz and family.
Thoughts and prayers to the family during this time of sorrow. We all miss him down at Ann's Pancakes
We went to uncle Buzz and aunt Jeans place a lot when I was a kid. I'll always remember the fun we had ice skating and playing hockey with Donnie and Punky. I joined the military and lost contact for several years only seeing them at the family reunion. When I moved to FL. and went up to mom and dads to visit Aunt Claire n Uncle Dick with Uncle Buzz n mom and dad went out to Golden Corral a lot. I remember uncle Buzz always greeted me with the same saying every time with Here comes the Great white father(because of my totally white hair. He was a great person and role model to have in your life. He was a great hero in WWII and deserves to be honored with Military and great respect from all who new him. Tanya and I are very sad for your loss and grieve with you. We love each and all of you and hope to see you in the future.
I loved visiting Uncle Buzz and Aunt Jean when I was a kid. We always had such a great time. I have wonderful memories of our visits. I remember I was so intrigued with the upstairs of Uncle Buzz's house because it was off limits to the girl cousins. It was the boys' domain. One time we visited and we girls (cousins) were allowed to sleep upstairs. Boy did I ever feel special. I loved hearing my mom talk about Buzz and his military stories. He was a great hero of WWII. Donnie, Leslie (aka Punky) and Elaine, Barb, and Sandy Jo, I am so sorry for your loss. Please accept my deepest sympathy. I hope we can see you again in the future. Sorry we live so far away):
Beaver was my favorite veteran. He will be missed so much. I couldnt handle going down stairs to say bye to him. I was very sad to hear the news. May he rest in peace.
Sandy, I am so sorry for your loss. I know your dad meant the world to you. That was easy to see from the great stories you shared of your dad, from the past until the very end. Please know that I am here whenever you need someone to listen or a shoulder to lean on. And always remember all the great memories you hold of your dad.
Your friend always, Tina
