Jerry - Tom Streb, you and I shared many wonderful vacations together. I am so grateful that we had a chance to play a final round of golf and sit around the house singing the old Irish classics. Although your recent physical limitations kept us apart, I will always be grateful for your love and friendship. Until we meet again ...

To the Moynihan brothers:: your older sibling, my grade school classmate, lives with The Lord. We often talked of our St Monica days and friends. What delight and joy he brought to me and so many others. Celebrations of St Pat's day in Hornell and Elmira were always over the top! Thanks Jerry, now bringing new laughter

We were good friends in K-4 at Saint Monica's. I left but often wondered what happened to the kids I knew. I now know about Jerry who clearly had a life of service and was much respected and appreciated for it..it is also good to know that Pat Eagan, Tom Smithers and Billy Reifsteck (my neighbor on Bradburn St.)are still around.

Jerry, you're with the good Lord now. What times we had at St. Andrew's in the 50''s. Your lilt of Irish laughter was ever evident. I even remember your dad as Community Police Officer visiting St. Bridget's for safety talks. And the whole crew of kids from St. Monica's. Requiescat in Pace . You are a great friend.

Condolences to Jerry's family from another seminary classmate-there were 6 or 7 of us from St. Monica's who started out on that road and he was one of the few to finish. We spent an interesting week together as 9th graders making bread and living in silence with the Trappist monks in Piffard, NY. Rest in peace, Jerry. Don Dowling

Jerry, it has been a long time from our first day in 1953 when we started at St. Andrew's Seminary. You went on and I stayed only a year. That was after Kindergarten through 8th Grade at St. Monica's. You were a true friend.

I remember the night Fr. Moynihan rode shotgun in my police cruiser. I enjoyed his company that night; and before we departed and went our different ways he asked me to "look out" for his brother John. John and Rosie, so sorry for your loss. RIP Jerry.

Dear Mike,
I am very sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. However,at least we know where he is now!
You don't remember me,but I was a friend of John Donahue's when he visited the Pauper's Den on Chili Avenue. We had some great times going back to John's for Ham sandwiches after a session at the Den.
I have always wondered what happened to John----Do you know? He always called you "Big Timber". What a great man.
Let me know if you can.

Jerry you and I go way back to when we were 3 or 4 years old and building snow forts in our back yards. From that you went on to building men and women for God. God bless you and take you in His arms. You are in our prayers, till we meet again and build more snow forts. Tom and Gail Smithers

I met Father Moynihan when he came to Hornell but our families go way back. His father and my grandfather belonged to St. Monica's Holy Name Society and were card playing friends. Our common Irish heritage made for a special bond.
He was a wonderful priest and friend. His support at the death of my husband will never be forgotten.
We stayed in touch after he left Hornell. I emailed him last week hoping to visit him at his brother's. When he didn't answer, I was worried his health had declined further. I will always regret I didn't get that last visit and one more chance to hear his hearty laugh.
RIP Moyner. You have earned this eternal rest.
Love, "Noonan"

Fr Jerry was the epitome of what a priest and friend should be. He ministered to us, our children and grandchildren for over thirty years. Through him we learned that the Holy Spirit has dimples and speaks in Irish cliches. We will miss him terribly but we know he is singing with all the saints.
