Rest in peace.
June 25, 2014
God's Word realistically shows that it is natural to experience grief when a loved one dies. The faithful patriarch Abraham mourned the death of his beloved wife, Sarah. (Genesis 23:2) David was grief-stricken after hearing that his son Absalom was dead. (2 Samuel 18:33) Even the perfect man Jesus wept over the death of his friend Lazarus. (John 11:35, 36) When a loved one dies, we may experience nearly overwhelming sorrow, but faith in the promises in God's Word can help us to endure such grief. (bjluv333@comcast.net)

Karen's legacy of liberating women from their shackles will live as one of the greatest revolutionary act for women by women. My inspiration to join NOW was based on Ms. DeCrow's courage, strength of character and her stance of "I won't back down." As Robert Kennedy said, "There are those who look at things the way they are, and ask why... I dream of things that never were, and ask why not? Karen asked "Why not" bringing thousands of women together to fight for their human rights.

Karen DeCrow's quest to gain equality for all is truly to be admired. For this, women and people everywhere are forever grateful. But most of all, she had the mindset of God Almighty who has indelibly stored such acts in his memory and will reward her accordingly at a future time. Her presence will be fondly missed by both those who knew her and knew of her. Our deepest sympathy for your loss!

Karen was a hero to myself and many other women and men for her never-failing intelligence and action in pursuit of a world in which gender is not relevant to accomplishment. She was also a true friend and a most down-to-earth woman. As soon as she stepped down as national President of NOW, she founded the Central New York Women's Bar Association, now an important chapter of the Women's Bar Association of the State of New York, and worked at whatever task was necessary to make it a success. I valued her contributions and friendship during the years that we worked together in WBASNY. She had no airs but did have a wicked sense of humor! WBASNY was proud to nominate Karen for membership in the National Women's Hall of Fame and to attend her induction in force. I am grateful for her life and will miss her greatly.
