Everything about his teaching was true. He was the best teacher I had and made a not so fun experience in school a lot better. I hope he knew the impact he had on his students. May he rest in peace with the angels as he was a true angel in life.

Here it is 7 months later, and I'm still thinking about you. 7th grade science class was always so interesting, and you made learning fun. I can still remember talking about good oldies music with you, and laughing about lines from The Honeymooners. I'am so sorry that you had to end your life the way you did, but I'm glad your finally at peace. R.I.P Mr. Sjo-Gaber. Always one of my very favorite teachers.

I just Googled Mr. Sjo-Gaber because I was thinking of him fondly and found this. I am so sorry he's gone. I had him for science at Lakeside 25 years ago. He was such a great teacher -- he always made school fun, cracking jokes and still getting the science across. But what I remember most was the time he noticed a mentally challenged girl being made fun of on the playground. He took a moment in class to tell us all that in the story of Cinderella, most people identify with Cinderella, but many people act more like the ugly stepsisters instead. He wanted to teach us to not fool ourselves about our own behavior and to recognize when we were being cruel and to be kind instead. Rest in peace, Mr. Sjo-Gaber. You made a difference.

Mr. Sjo Gaber,

Rest in Peace, you were a wonderful, inspirational teacher and friend. You not only gave the gift of science, but music as well. You played the guitar while we sang for assemblies and helped me realize what my passion is in life!
Let your hair grow, spirit be free, and keep strumming that guitar in heaven
