I met Fr. Casazza in Coronado in the Navy. My wife Frances knew him well and introduced him to me. He was a lifelong friend of the family, a good, decent and honest person. The last time he visited us in California, my daughter had bought me a funny clock that was a dog with a bugle and he played reveille when the alarm went off- LOUD! Fr. Casazza thought that was going to be just the ticket to "help" a fellow priest who had trouble getting up for early morning mass. So my daughter quickly went and got another one and he was so pleased when he saw it, took it and cradled it in his arm and off he went!

I last spoke to him around 2008 after my wife passed away. He was a lifelong friend to us and will be greatly missed.

I met Fr. Casazza when I was 5 years old. He knew my parents who were both in the Navy and he frequently would visit with them. I will never forget that he visited us once in California and he drove all of the kids (5 of us)to the local store to get ice cream. He went into the store and came back and asked us to guess what flavor he got. We kept guessing and guessing (chocolate, vanilla etc) but we were wrong! He told us he got Rocky Road. Well, we had never heard of that flavor before! Then he told us what was in it - chocolate, nuts, and marshmallows! We all marveled at how such an ice cream flavor could be! I always laugh and think fondly of him whenever I see that ice cream. My parents kept in contact with him for over 50 years. I will have to look for some pictures to post here and break the news to my father who is still living at 94 years old about his passing. What a kind and happy soul he was. He will really be missed dearly.
