Just heard of George's passing. Still having a hard time believing it! We've been friends since our days at Notre Dame. Last saw him at our 50th at ND (Class of 1962) where we had a ball. May he rest in peace and my sincere condolences to his friends and Family. Allen Sell, ND '62, Hilton Head, SC

To all of George's family, our deepest sympathy. We have lost a ND friend that we shared many wonderful times with during our time on campus. George was a kind and caring person that God had placed in our lives to our great fortune. We last saw George in November, 2013 at a football game in South Bend and he was still "the same old George". Rest in peace, good dear friend. We will light a candle at the Grotto for you and your family. Mike and Sharon Minelli

A wonderful and kind man. Instrumental with the creation of the Old Bridge YMCA.
A 1st class gentleman who will be missed.

My deepest sympathies to the entire Scharpf family. It was my honor and privilege to work with and for George, over most of my adult life. I can't express in words the positive impact he had on my life; Thanks George. George Willever, friend and co-worker.
