I have just now learned of John's passing. He was special. anyone who knew me knows how close John and I were. RIP
I'll always rememer the games between tory corner and bens lunch in the slow pitch league...you will be missed by all
Dear Mr. Healy,
You will be missed. When my Dad told me you had died I was greatly saddened, but couldn't help smiling while thinking of you. You are one of my happy childhood memories. You were Nana and PopPop's (Rose and George Boland) neighbor on Whittlesey Ave. in West Orange. As I grew older, I thought of you as Uncle Jerry's friend, but always as a friend of the family. May you rest in peace and may God comfort those you have left behind.
With great affection,
Kathleen Heller Croft
Mr.Healy will be sadly missed by all, i was a student at Noth Junior High while he was a principal there, he was an outstanding principal and will always be remembered. He was a close friend of my fathers, both raised in West Orange, my thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time of sorrow.
Mr.Healy , Thank You , NJHS, BHS
I didn't do it Mr. Healy! someone from Mr. Malanga's home room must have taken the register from your office! Spring 1978. These are memories! He was a straight talking man who guided his students towards succeeding.
Condolences to the john Healy family. John was great punch hitter and great fielder from a teammate on the Pittsburgh senior Olympic team affectionately.
Jack was one of those rare people who had a positive influence on everyone he met. He was an exemplary ballplayer, friend, teammate, and role model. I have always looked forward to his return to Palm Coast every year for senior softball. We have lost a great human being, who was also an amazing athlete and competitor. I feel very fortunate to have known Jack and I know his memory and positive example will live on every time we take the field.
From our family Sunday dinners, holidays, the beach at Lawrence Harbor, the joys and sorrows in the family through the years, you have always been there not only as my cousin but as my friend. I will always treasure our time together, especially watching the ball game on July 3rd in the hospital with you. I am so proud to be a Healy. Ann Healey Dlouhy
As a Colgate kid" I remember Mr. Healy well. He was a gentleman of the highest order and it was at his hand in the reserve league that I first learned the fundamentals of the game of baseball and the principles of sportsmanship and fair play. He was a contemporary and friend of my late father and they attended Saint Benedicts together. We offer our heart felt condolences to the Healy family.
A true gentleman and scholar and everyone's friend. You will be missed at the field in Flagler and on the golf course's of Palm Coast.
I will miss Jack. Knowing him made me a better person. Our condolences to the family. Ann and Jim Dermody
John was a special counselor, educator and friend who was always there when he was needed. Thanks for the ''guidance lessons'',John. Joe Paone
May fond memories of Uncle Jack comfort tne Healy family. My deepest sympathy
Colgate Field was a home away from home for my entire family. When my parents brought us to 130 Franklin Ave. they had no idea how much people like John Healy would affect our lives. Directing the Reserve League gave John the means to not only teach the game of baseball but also how to deal with adversity and success. Many hundreds of young boys not yet ready to compete at the Little League level were "groomed" on that sandlot field. The familiar saying " If you play just one year in the Reserve League, you will become a fine ballplayer" will forever echo in the memories of those of us privileged to have experienced "The Wonder Years" of Colgate. John's presence will be surely missed at Old Timers Day. Thank you John and deepest condolences to the Healy Family.

One of the " Bright Lights " of winter was playing softball with Jack at Flagler Beach. He was a great person and only had good words for his fellow man. Bill Carleton ,Pine City N.Y.
Hope to play with you again in Heaven, if I make it. Know you are there already..
Uncle Jack, you will be sorely missed by us and hope you are with dad and malachy having a reunion. We love u so much, and will miss you terribly
Jack was the definition of gentleman - a gentle Man in every sense. He was always so encouraging as a teammate and coach and made softball fun while remaining competitive (I'll always have the image of his smile crossing the plate after hitting a homer when his family was visiting) He leaves a hole impossible to fill except with wonderful memories of the gift he was/is to us. Organize a game for us in Heaven, Jack. We'll be there soon. Jack Pulick
Uncle jack was one of sweetest men I have had the chance to know. My kids adore him, their great great uncle, and are truley sadden ... But thankfully had the opportunity to chat with him last week while he was home. My kids loved and looked forward to going up to see him cause they knew he was taking them to play ball and have fun. He was a genuine smart sweet man and my family will truley miss him! Michael Rosie Matthew Jayden and Morgan.
Jack might have been in his 80's but he hit as if he were in his 30's. A true gentleman. RIP
Of all that can be said about this great man, nothing is more significant to me than his positive influence on the hundreds, maybe more, of kids who made their way to Colgate on summer mornings a half a century ago.
His kindness, compassion, and encouragement still serve as reminder of what makes a great human being. He is a West Orange legend, the type of man who we were very lucky to have known and the likes of which the world sees far fewer of as time goes by.
May he rest in the peace he truly deserves.
Uncle Jack you will certainly be missed , we love u and will miss you terribly, hope you are with the rest of the healy clan having a party in heaven, love Jim, Cathy ,Stephanie and jimmy healy xxxooo
Jack was a great guy. I will miss him very much next winter in Palm Coast. The softball league will never be the same without him. RIP Jack.
JOHN was truely a great person who spent a lot of his time teaching us to play baseball at Colgate Field in West Orange. He inspired us through the years as we grew older. I plan to read his book and offer a mass for him. Sincere condolences to Jennie Healy and family. Al Baragona
