JAMES ALEXION Obituary

James A. Alexion Mass is in Toms River for businessman, Red Sox fan James Alexander Alexion, 83, of Flagler Beach, Fla., passed away peacefully on June 29, 2016, with his loving family by his side. Visitation will be Friday, July 8, at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River, N.J., from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, July 9, at 10 a.m. at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church on Church Road in Toms River, N.J. Burial will be immediately following at Ocean County Memorial Park in Toms River, N.J. Jim was born in Providence, R.I., and graduated from Northeastern University in Boston with a degree in engineering. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force, and travelled extensively throughout the world. Jim worked for Bell & Howell at a young age, and later became a self-made businessman and entrepreneur. He loved the Boston Red Sox; was an avid golfer; and loved all forms of gambling, especially gin rummy and blackjack. He played the piano, harmonica and accordion, loved a good joke, and was a masterful story teller. Jim was a good husband, and a proud father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara; his son, Alan; his daughter, Jennifer and her husband, Bill Dixon; his grandchildren, Jake and Jamie, and his brother, George Alexion. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations "In Memory of James Alexion" to: Camphill Village Kimberton Hills, Development Office, PO Box 1045, Kimberton, Pa. 19442 or online at www.camphillkimberton.org.

We just recently heard of Jim's passing and wish to extend our heartfelt sympathy to Bunny and family. Jim and Bunny allowed us to rent their beautiful home in Cap Cana, DR the last two Christmas' plus the upcoming Christmas 2016 and were the most gracious of hosts. Although we never met in person, we did exchange several phone calls and it was quite apparent that he was just a wonderful person. God Bless.

I met Jim and Bunny in the DR. Immediate close relationship with both and Allie. Jim was very possevive of his VO, my wife's drink of choice. We kidded all the time he only gave her Canadian Club!
My favorite story was how he shined shoes on Wall Street and ended up with a seat on the New York stock exchange. I delivered orders on foot from a grocery store. I would give Jim hell about my shoes and he wanted me to deliver his groceries.

What a guy I will miss him.

Our deepest and heartfelt condolences to Barbara, Alan, Jennifer and Bill, Jake and Jamie.

Uncle Jimmy was more than an uncle to me he was more like my older brother. We grew up together. Jimmy was there my entire childhood and through my teenage years and he is very much a part of my memories of those times we shared, not so long ago. Jimmy and I shared a room when he lived with us and so much more.

During those years we were a close family, Yia Yia, our parents, aunts and uncles, cousins sharing holidays and days at the beach instilling in each of us a strong family bond. No matter how many miles or years separated us whenever we'd reconnect it was as if no time at all had passed by.

I've loved Jimmy all of my life and I will miss him and think of him often.

May your cherished memories warm your heart and may God hold you in the hollow of His hand. Our Love, Joe & Ce Gadreault & Family

I was deeply saddened to hear of our beloved Uncle Jimmy's passing. When I think of him the picture that comes to mind is my very handsome, tanned Uncle with just a bit of mischief in his eyes and an incredible personality.

Uncle Jimmy was Yia Yia's youngest child and I remember so many funny stores. Yia Yia was very determined that nothing would stand in the way of Jimmy's education. During those college years pity the poor girl who would call and ask to speak to him. Yia Yia would always intercept the call with a stern message - "My Jimmy goes to school, he doesn't need any girls!"

Uncle Jimmy and Yia Yia were my Godparents and I loved them dearly. I'm not sure where the habit of pinching our cheeks became such a sport with him but I'm sure Livia and I rarely were with him that this act of endearment wasn't bestowed on us.

Uncle Jimmy considered dentistry during his military years and when he visited us, from his base in Panama, he gave me a model of upper and lower teeth. Yia Yia had dentures which she soaked overnight and I so enjoyed replacing them with the model Uncle Jimmy gave me.

Livia, Gary and I were delighted when Uncle Jimmy would play his accordion. He made it perfectly clear that we shouldn't mess around with it. That was way too much temptation! One day Livia and I, ages 10 and 6, decided we'd take the accordion out of its case. The accordion was too heavy for one of us to do much with so each of us took one end and walked back and forth with it making all kinds of noise, not sounding at all like music. Thankfully it was Yia Yia who caught us, scolded us and like all Yia Yia's gave us something to eat!

I remember when Uncle Jimmy brought Barbara to RI to meet us. I though she was so beautiful and being just a few years older I was very happy that she would be my aunt. That is until I realized that she was going to take him away from us. It didn't long before she won me over and she has remained very special to me.

So many memories that warm our hearts and keep us connected. With all of my love, Patsy and with deep condolences from my husband Larry and I, Sharon and her husband Arthur and our precious grandchild, Sophia.
