Mary Flynn, 95, a former Perth Amboy, N.J., resident, died on Aug. 26, 2011, at Alamitos-West Health Care Center in Los Alamitos, Calif. A private memorial was held on Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, at Forest Lawn Cypress in Southern California. Mary was born in Perth Amboy on March 10, 1916, to her late parents, John and Angelina Capaccione. She was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School, class of 1935. In 1937, she wed William E. Flynn Jr. and became the mother of three. She was an active participant in her Middlesex County community. Mary was a longtime educator. She was an instructional assistant for over 20 years throughout the Perth Amboy school district. Mary was active politically. She was a committeewoman for the Perth Amboy Democratic Organization and part of the campaign and election committee for her cousin, James J. Flynn Jr., longtime mayor of Perth Amboy. She assisted in the elections of her son, William E. Flynn III, Esq., first as mayor of Old Bridge, N.J., and then as a longtime New Jersey assemblyman, and in the first campaign and election of her daughter-in-law, Elaine Czech Flynn, as Middlesex County clerk. Prior to her move to California in 2003, Mary was a life-long member of St. Mary's R.C. Church. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, in December 1979. She is survived by her three children, William Edward III and his wife, Elaine, of Old Bridge, N.J.; Dr. Harriet Marie, and Dr. Daniel A. Flynn and his wife, Selina, of Long Beach, Calif.; 13 grandchildren, Erin, Colleen, Tara, Bonnie, Suzanne, Stewart, Bryan, Casey, Kristy, Kathleen, Courtney, Karina, and Daniel Jr., and nine great-grandchildren, with a 10th expected next month.

Both Charlie and I wish all of you our condolences during this difficult time. On a good note...how fortunate you all were to have her for so many years. Wow..what a beautiful article and what a special woman/ mother she must have been.
