Mattie Ruth Berry, 67, made her transition on Nov. 17, 2012. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Greater New Point Missionary Baptist Church, 60 Payne Ave., Irvington, N.J. Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield, N.J. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Arrangements are by the Whigham Funeral Home. Mattie was a retired teacher for the Newark Board of Education. She was a former member, usher and president of the usher board at Greater New Point Missionary Baptist Church and former president of the Christian Fellowship Ushers Ministry. She ws the beloved mother of Pastor Adrian Berry and the late Tariq Berry; loving grandmother of Qua'Yaan and Tah'Yaan Good-Berry; adored aunt of Bahir Jessie; cherished sister of Lena Jessie and devoted daughter of the late West and Lucy Patrick.
