Dearest Mom,

Today marks the 31st anniversary of your entry into everlasting peace.

There are times when it seems like yesterday with all else frozen in time. What makes this year so significant and so unsettling is I am now alive longer without you than with you.

You left far too young.

People who never knew you would have loved you. When people met you, they knew they had met someone true and honest and of great integrity.

You were so very loving, caring, and nurturingthe essence of true motherhood.

I've tried to live the values you taught me but there are times when I know I have failed both you and the concepts that you tried to instill in me. You taught me, though, that forgiveness is the most wonderful trait anyone could have so I hope you will forgive me for all my failings and faults.

May you and Dad enjoy everlasting light, happiness, refreshment, and peace.

I'll love you and Dad always,
Jasiu

On this All Souls' Day, I remember my Dearest Mom and Dad.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls, and all the souls of the faithful departed, rest in peace. Amen.

Dearest Mom and Dad,

Today is the 28th anniversary of when I learned of my diagnosis. I will never understand why I survived but I am absolutely sure as to how I withstood what awaited me after that day.

Mom, your prayers and intercession from the place of your eternal reward allowed your unconditional love to envelop me during that dark time. You were there near me to comfort, console, and guide me through a nearly five-year recovery.

Dad, you withstood my attitude and my behavior to shower me with your love and support during those years. I look back with anguish at the many times I did not graciously accept the kindnesses that you extended to me. Please forgive me for my petulance, anger, and language. It was the illness talking and not me.

I'm left to reflect on this day without either of you here with me and the sadness of that reality is overwhelming. Please continue to wrap your loving arms around me and to protect me during these extremely trying times.

I'll love you both always,
Jasiu
