Simon Priester, 92, of Elizabeth, N.J., was born on March 21, 1918, in Denmark, S.C. By Jan. 7, 2011, when he passed away, he had fulfilled many important roles in the lives of others. A viewing will be held on Jan. 15, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at The Nesbitt Funeral Home, 165 Madison Ave., Elizabeth, N.J. 07201. As a loving husband and father, dependable friend, and all-around exemplary person, Simon will be greatly missed. His loving support has shaped many of us. May we do the same for others. Simon was predeceased by his parents, Luchie and Charlie Priester; his son, Simon Priester Jr.; his daughter, Alma Gallimore, and siblings,. Charlie Jr., Johnny, Willie and Clara Priester. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Katie Priester; his children, Patty, Michael and Mark Priester, Carol McClain, and Priscilla Johnson; daughters-in-law, Francis, Patricia and Crystal; 21 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and a host of other family and friends. Daddy Priester was a big part of my life growing up and really was there for me as a teenager. I will always cherish the role he played in my life as an Elder in the congregation and a dad and granddad all rolled into one. I truly look forward to seeing him in the resurrection and hearing his wonderful laugh once again.

I recently had the privilege of meeting Bro and Sis Priester at the Jersey City Assembly Hall. I had heard many fine things and was geniunely honored to sit and talk with him for a brief while. We spoke briefly, too, about the tragic accident that killed his son--a hit and run driver as I recall. What a wonderful and dignified couple. May the good that he did 'go right with him.' He is now safe within Jehovah's memory awaiting a resurrection.

Sister Priester, Patty, Michael & Family, My deepest sorrow for the loss of your husband, father, grand, uncle & loving brother. Losing a love one is very hard. I lost my mother back in May. Lean on Jehovah and he will give you the strength to endure these troublesome times. Keep fond memories in your heart and mind. Those memories will always keep our love ones close to us. Think of the great joy of seeing Brother Priester again on a Paradise Earth. What great times Jehovah has in store for his loved ones. May the God of all comfort, comfort your family. I would like to convey my deepest sympathy to the Priester Family....As a very young man,11 years old I remember meeting Brother Priester when he married my aunt Joan Guilford...little did I know that just a few years later ,I would meet me the family when I began to attend meetings of Jehovah's Witnesses at the Elizabeth KH...I will always cherish the many opportunities of encouragement, council, the "fatherless boys",received from brother Priester, and other mature brothers in the congregation..May our heavenly father Jehovah comfort the family at this time, and may the many fond memories of Simon Priester sustain the Priester family until the new order!-Reginald Gregory&family
