SADIE BRIDGER GEORGE
Sadie Bridger George, 90, of Burgaw passed gently from her earthly life on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Pender Memorial Hospital.
She was born April 28, 1922 in Duplin County, the daughter of the late Birkner and Martha Anne Stone Simmons. She was also preceded in death by her Husband, Willie George.
Sadie is survived by her son, Bill George (Mary Anne); grandsons, Charlie George, William George (Jenn) and Sam George, all of Burgaw; great granddaughter, Blair George; sisters, Emma Dean Bass and Martha Anne Adams both of Durham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sadie was retired from Pender County Library where she served as assistant librarian and drove the book mobile for many years. Her love of children also brought her the opportunity to work in the day care program at Burgaw Presbyterian Church. While a member of Burgaw Presbyterian Church she was active in the church choir and playing hand bells. Most recently Sadie was a member of Friendly Community Baptist Church.
Sadie was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Great granddaughter, Blair, was a special blessing in Sadie's life. Being a wonderful homemaker, she created a home filled with sunshine, joy and delectable meals. Some of Sadie's most memorable times in life were family gatherings, which were at least once a month, where the family played the piano, sang and played games. Her love for the Lord and unwavering personal commitment to live her life by His Word was evident to all who knew Sadie. Sadie's radiant smile, warm heart and pleasant disposition will always be remembered.
