To Anne, George and all of Ann's family, I am so sorry that Ann has gone far too soon and send you love and comfort from across the ocean even though I have never met you. I wish I could be there with to say goodbye to my beautiful, supportive and trustworthy friend but I will be there with you in my thoughts. I send you very warm hugs. Fi Walsh

"Ann was one of the world's rarer spirits - someone whose inner beauty shone through, her very considerable, outer beauty.
She turned heads everywhere she went, but not just because she was gorgeous, but because she radiated a kind of inner light and serenity.
I got to know her when she came on a cruise I helped to organize in 1995. It was led by Lawrence Blair, a British anthropologist and my boyfriend at the time.
We enticed forty friends, and friends of friends, to travel with us for two weeks on an old catamaran to Irian Jaya and remote parts beyond. It was called the Ring of Fire cruise.
Two weeks is a long time with a large group of people, but the amazing experiences we had and the love and friendship we shared made it a once-in- a-lifetime trip in more ways than one.
Ann was such an integral member of the group. Always smiling, cheerful, up for anything, whether diving with the deep sea snakes or paddling in a canoe full of chanting Asmat warriors in the pouring rain.
I will always remember her smile, and the love she radiated. She never said a cross or bad word about anyone - she was probably the one and only person in the group who, without exception, everyone adored. Ann, you will live forever in our hearts".
