As a lifelong hockey fan, I just wanted to thank Herb Brooks for 1980. As a Penguins fan, I want to say thanks for all that you've done for the Penguins. Most of all, I want to say thank you for being a good old-fashioned hard-working nice guy!

Hockey lost a legend today. All my love for the sport and the reason I have passion for it came from Herb Brooks and the 1980 team's miracle. He is a wonderful man and I will truly miss him.

I am very saddened about the loss of Herb Brooks. My dad was a close friend of Mr. Brooks and played hockey with him since childhood. I can still vividly recall the image of my dad hanging the flag when we beat the Russians in 1980 -- and Herbie will always be remembered for making that happen. God bless you and keep you, Mr. Brooks. You will be missed by so many.
