Shirley Chase, My Cousin, my rock. I have had you in my life since the day I was born. Our families were not like most, we did everything together. Every holiday, birthday was cause for celebration, and boy we sure did. When we asked who would be at a event, we were always told "just family", I knew that meant, Swiler/Chase together. There you were, asking me how it was going, giving me advice on the latest book to read, or just chatting about your latest trip. When we needed you most, when we had to get our business going, you were there to get it done. Boy, oh boy, you did! I love that you worked out a barter with Jim. He was more than happy to come over and take care of the house for you and Tim. Usually, his last stop of the day so he could spend extra time talking with one or both of you.
I will miss you my dear cousin, more than you know. That chat we had in the Kitchen last year, will still remain between just us.
Love you, Miss you,
Beva (Swiler) Steinberg

It is so hard for me to express in words just how Shirley impacted my life. I had the privilege of feeling like she was one of my best friends for some 45 years and those memories are cherished and will never stop. She is truely one in a million and will be in my heart for ever.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Shirley's family. I worked for her when she was the Commissioner of Labor & Industry. We tackled many challenges together. I had the utmost respect for her and she was a pleasure to work with. She will be missed.

Dear Sedalia, Audrey and Larry,
I was your neighbor and high school classmate of Audrey's. At that time, I knew only that Shirley was Audrey's adorable little sister. But, when i went to William Mitchell law school, she was now my classmate, study group partner and friend. I am truly saddened at this tragic loss of such a wonderful person at her young age. She had one of the sharpest wits, tremendous intelligence and certainly one of the most enjoyable people that I had the blessing to know.
She made a positive difference in my life for which I am grateful.

Dear Shirley's Family, I had the good fortune of getting to know Shirley a few years ago through my colleague and friend, Wenda Thompson. Shirley was our legal counsel and helped us with many matters. Shirley was not only a great attorney, but also an awesome person - straightforward, honest, with a high level integrity. Through the years I came to admire Shirley, although I had never ever met her in person. I am extremely saddened by her loss and will miss her dearly. My condolences go out to her family and friends.

I was saddened by the news of Shirley's passing. Shirley was my boss and mentor during her role as General Counsel and President. She was generous in sharing her intelligence, persuasion tactics and wit with me. I am a better counsel for having worked with her. She will be fondly remembered. My condolences to you and your family.

Tim and Family. I am so sorry to hear about Shirley. Although we have not been in touch for many years, I have so many fond memories of Shirley. Shirley was my mentor and so supportive when I was in law school. She always made me laugh especially when she smashed the champagne glass at her wedding! She was also my mentor/ role model to follow in her footsteps on great international adventures. She lived a fabulous life full of great friends and experiences. I am sorry she is gone so young.
