Knew Steve from our days at River Falls. He was a kind and gentle person with a great outlook on the world. My condolences to the Miller family.

It was about 56 years ago, when Steven was 6 years old, that I first saw him at his grandmother and grandfathers house. Many years passed and this past summer I was in Minnesota and we became reacquainted. It was such a pleasure reminising about our family history. So sorry we could not get better reaquainted. Cousin, George Nagel

Mr. Miller was a brilliant and inspiring teacher and colleague: revolutionary! I remember grading/correcting papers on my brother's porch near Powederhorn from my Spanish classes at Sanford and he gave insight on how to have the pupils learn to evaluate. Awesome help and wit! He is missed.

Shari and family, Boy Scouts, and Powderhorn Park have all lost an amazing husband, friend, neighbor, father, leader and contributor, full of love and patience. I am so sorry for your untimely loss.

Steve taught my older daughter Amanda at Field Middle School in Mpls. She really liked him and when I facebooked her his Obit she said the following: "Wow - that's so..crazy? All of us little kids would talk about how he was so...mysterious? It turns out he had a wicked cool life! Sailing the Galápagos Islands?! It's a shame he never shared these stories with his classes! I am sad to see he died only two weeks after being diagnosed with cancer..the world is not fair sometimes. Thanks for sharing Dad."
So maybe some of Steve's free spirit rubbed off on his students. I know he made an impact as a teacher. God bless him.

Mr. Miller was an amazing teacher. Six years later and I'm still recalling things he taught me and the quiry things he did. Me and my father often talk about Long Lake and the lint he pulled out of his jacket to help start our camp fire. He was a crazy old man, and we all loved him, he will be missed.
