I served under him in E Battery out of Cloquet. Upon deployment I was a part of the group that was broken off and sent to Saudi Arabia so, I guess I didn't get the chance to truly see him as a Commander. What I did witness of him, however, was that her very much so was able to relate to us low ranking troops on our level. He didn't lord his rank over us and didn't see his rank as permission to disrespect us. He seemed to be a truly and genuinely warm hearted man. I didn't have to get to know him too well to know that he will be missed.

Dear Hervas family,

The last time I spoke with Tad was 10 years ago at our 20th class reunion as always he made me laugh.

Ned and Barb,
You are amazing people and have raised a family of heros. Tad was among the best there ever was. I pray for strength and peace for all of you during this difficult time. We sure enjoyed having the opportunity to get to know Tad and your family over the years.
