SGT. WILLIAM STACEY
You are my Hero may God Keep you in his arms forever
July 06, 2013
Mr & Mrs Stacey & Kimmy,
I toured Arlington National during the 4th of July holiday on 4-3-13. After seeing the typical areas of the cementary I wanted to go to Section 60 and see first hand the sacrafices these young men have made. Having been to Arlington several times I was taken aback that this section is not on any tours or for that fact mentioned. As I walked away from the crowds it dawned on me how special this area really is. I was walking among the headstones and came across your son's and thought he was just 8 months older than my son. Atop his headstone were several items left by family and or friends to include a set of USMC Sgt chevrons, I hope you don't mind but I took a photo of this and promise not to share with anyone. I could see he was really “beloved on the earth”

I never met this young man, but have seen the letter he wrote. As I mourn his passing, I also celebrate his life and the strength of character of this young hero. Our country, our world need more like him. God be with his family and friends and comfort them. May our Lord surround you with His Presence. William Stacey - I wish I could have known you.

Will,
I only met you a couple of times because most of the time I have been friends with your sister you have been at war. But I want you to know the person that your sister is because of you. She loved you more than I knew it was possible to love a brother and the way she talked, and still does talk about you, shows what an amazing older brother you were to her. If there is one thing I know for sure it is that you will never be forgotten. If your death had such a profound impact on me, a girl who barely knew you, and I still think about you almost daily and can't see a military uniform without cringing, think about the impact you had on your close family and friends. You were an amazing man and I'm happy to say I knew you, even if it was just barely. Something I think a lot about is what I would do if I had three wishes and ever since January 31st one would be that you haven't gone out on foot patrol that day and died. Anna would still have her big brother (with even more stories about you), kimmy would have you for the rest of your life, and your parents wouldn't have to see there only son die before them. And maybe I would have actually gotten to know you in person. You are the first young person I knew to die and the first I knew in the military. On that Tuesday morning when marines showed up at your parents door you completely changed my life. You effected it in ways I could have never emagined and although I wish she didn't have to be strong, you made Anna a stronger person. I want you to know that your sister is safe in our hands and we will always look after her, now that you no longer can. Rest in peace Will. You are remembered.

Prayer Shawls 4 Fallen Soldiers (ps4fs@charter.net) is an organization with groups throughout the country who strive to send handmade prayer shawls and/ or lap robes to families who have lost a loved one in service to our country. Members of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, PA would like to honor your son's sacrifice and memory by sending our prayers and comfort through a shawl which we will mail to you. If you are interested, please contact me at gramman@comcast.net with the names and addresses and what they would like to receive. We will send them as soon as possible. Also, if you know of any other families who are grieving the loss of a loved one who died serving our country, please pass along my e-mail address, as our organization can no longer get family contacts through the military. May God bless you and comfort you in the days ahead. Sincerely, Lynne

This is a true light that will shine in the hearts of the people he has touched through his actions and words. He gave the greatest gift for what we all enjoy today. I never knew this man and I am a Stacey. I served 20 years and I pray for his family and friends. Let his words live in our hearts and not let them fade. He is a true testament and blessing to humanity. God Bless him and our prayers are with him.
