Chuck had a very positive impact in my business life. Not long after I graduated from college, I went to work for Chuck at the same time he became Vice-President of the Plastics Division. I worked with him every day for four years and I can personally attest to the character aspects described in his obituary. He was smart, fair, honest, and a man of high integrity. He could tell jokes with the best of them. Even now, I can call up a visual image of him doing so, and laugh while I think of it. That was 40 years ago.

Chuck was very careful in spending the company's money and expected all who worked for him to do so as well. He sent me to San Francisco once and told me to stay at the Fairmont Hotel, (then the only five-star hotel in the city) because it was likely I would never stay there again. I never have. There was much he taught me in those years, mostly from following his example. He also allowed me to make mistakes and learn from them. Never ever did he say a cross word to me. He was a fine, fine man and I feel privileged to have known him.

Linda and I extend our condolences to Mary and the O'Connell family. May his soul and the soul of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Aunt Mary, Cousins, and Cousins-in-Law -

My thoughts and prayers are with you as we all mourn - and celebrate - Uncle Charles. I so wish I could be with you in person!

I enjoyed the growing-up years when you were in Overland Park. Like Paul, I think of you often when I am in the 95th and Metcalf area, which is almost every day; I teach at what used to be the Valley View School. Did Mary Frances go there for awhile? It is now Holy Cross School.

When Paul's youngest, James, was a baby, I remember my mom holding him and wondering which O'Connell he looked like - there was certainly a strong O'Connell strain - and she finally settled on Uncle Charles. So please know that Uncle Chuck and all of you have been in our thoughts over the years.

With thoughts, prayers, and love,

Jeanne
