Steven DICKERSON Obituary

DICKERSON, Steven Earl

Steven Earl Dickerson, 58 Born: January 6, 1956 Home-Going: March 6, 2014

Oh how glorious are home-goings for those whose hope is in Christ Jesus. No more sorrow, no more pain. Steven is walking hand in hand with his Savior in The Garden! Though it is way too soon for those who love him dearly, the Lord says, "...well done, good and faithful servant...". Steven's work on earth is complete. Oh, how we're going to miss him.

Steven was a man of extraordinary faith. He completely trusted in the Lord's provision, and walked out the love of Jesus in his selfless service to others. He didn't ask for much, if anything; but, was happy in giving everything of himself. He wanted the love of Jesus to shine through and to be a light for Him. Steven served with a servant's heart. He was not concerned about the "things" of this world, but about people. One person that stole his heart was his little buddy, Carson. PawPaw loved his little buddy and taking him to church. Steven also dearly loved his church family; fellowshipping with them and helping his church in any way he could. All of his life he had a giving, selfless and faithful heart for others. Steven would go way beyond the extra mile for anyone. One example of his selfless giving is when he lost his home in the history-making Bastrop wildfire of 2011. Steven worked with the TX Baptist Men in the Sawmill Ministry helping to restore the lost homes of other victims; even to his peril of plummeting off a collapsing scaffold and shattering his heel. Give so that others can live sums up Steven's life in every way. He was a quiet soul that not only would hold your hand, but would hold your heart, as well.

Steven was born in Hamlin, TX to Rev. Wayne and Jean Dickerson; grew up in Bertram, Oak Hill, and Austin, TX, and made his home in Bastrop, TX. He was the fourth of six children, having four brothers and one sister. Under the guidance of his parents, Steven received Christ as his Savior, with his daddy baptizing him. He was a member of Timberline Fellowship Church in Paige, where he served faithfully.

Steven would want all to know the hope he found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and would invite you to seek Jesus as your Savior. It is what sustained him in life; giving him a peace and joy beyond understanding. (John 3:16) Though a massive heart attack claimed his life on earth, our beloved Steven is more alive today than he has ever been! (John 11:25-26)

Preceding in death: his Mother; brothers Curtis and Jeffrey; niece, Missy Jean; and brother-in-law Dick Spruce.

Survivors: his Father; brothers Ronnie (Tish), Terry (Cheryl); sister Susan; many nieces, nephews; and one uncle.

A Celebration of Steven's life will be held at 1pm on March 15 at Timberline Fellowship in Paige, TX. Lunch will be served following the Memorial service. inurnment Services will be at 11am on March 22 at Forest Oaks Memorial Park in Austin, TX.

Memorials may be made to the Sawmill Ministry at Timberline Fellowship in Paige, TX.
