He was the Greatest Band director Iredell County has ever seen. He the reason I fought to stay in the band when he returned to West Iredell High School. A great leader and will always live in the hearts of all he taught.

Jason S. Lackey
Class of 1994.

Because of Mr. Calabrese, I was in the Band of Warriors that marched in the 1981 Inaugural Parade. I feel so fortunate to have been one of his many students. I'll always remember the difference he made in so many kids' lives. He was a great teacher, motivator and musician. If it wasn't for Mr. Calabrese, many kids would not have made it through school or maybe even life. One of my favorite memories in high school at WIHS was when we performed the football pre-game at Senior High playing "You Ain't Nothin' But A Hound Dog" at the Greyhound crowd! Thank you Mr. Calabrese for all those great times and being a great mentor for us all.

I really admired the way Mr. Calabrese put the SHS Grenadier Marching Band together and watched him lead them on field at halftime during our football games. He was a great teacher. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. John Coley, Class of 64

This is such a shock to me. I just talked with Mr. C three weeks ago. This man was at the top of my list of most loved teachers. He put Statesville on the map with the S.H.S. Grenedier Band. He was loving, caring, understanding and listened to his students. He worked with a joyful spirit and correction from him was received well. Our prayers are with the family during this difficult adjustment.

Mr. Calabrese will be missed by all who know him and loved hearing him play. He played with our choir at Forest Park Presbyterian Church occasionally, and it was such an honor to be a part of the music praising God. He was an exceptional musican and gentleman.

Mr Calabrese made a difference in my life while at WIHS.
Thank you, Mr Calabrese for the memories.
May God bless your family in this time of sorrow
