Mr. Calabrese was one of my teachers at East Middle in the 80's. He was an inspiration to every student who had the privilege to learn from him. I have always had the deepest respect for him and will always appreciate his kindness, warmth and humor. He will be greatly missed by many.

Mr Calabrese was an inspiration to a young girl who @ 14 lost her father. At Oakwood Jr High in 1962 I became part of his band beginning with the clarinet. He believed in me, taught me that you could make something from your life when I thought all was lost. I was one of the 1st bagpipers in 1965 when we marched in St.Pete. went on to play percussion and was a majorette and vocalist for the 1966 concert band. I teach fitness dance and continue to give back to the world what he taught me was so precious, "music", it's the universal language.my hero!

I have truly adored and admired my Uncle Jim my entire life! And my Aunt Mavis, too! My Uncle Jim was the most talented musician I have ever known and I think part of my love of music grew just from being around him. My sister and I have many wonderful memories with Uncle Jim that were always filled with laughter. Uncle Jim(and Aunt Mavis) always encouraged me to go after whatever it was I wanted in life and they were always there right beside my parents supporting me. I am so thankful to have had him in my life and know that he is making beautiful music in heaven. Prayers to my sweet Aunt Mavis and my wonderful cousins. Wow! Aren't we so lucky!!

I was blessed to meet Mr. Calabrese when in 5th grade at Celeste Henkle school when I wanted to join the band. The first time I met him I knew immediately that he cared about me and wanted me to succeed. I was a member of the WIHS Band of Warriors that went to Ronald Reagan's inagural. This is still one of the proudest moments of my life. Mr. C taught e so much more than music. I admire this man as one of the greatest that God ever put on this earth. My family was also blessed to count the entire Calabrese family as very dear friends. I have great memories of the meals we shared at Outback celebrating birthdays, Christmases at on of our homes, and all the major events in our lives. He often told me I could call him Jim. I said oh no sir I cannot, you will forever be Mr. C to me. The family is in my prayers and I love you all.
