Mr. Calabrese made us all so proud of our Grenadier Band and he taught us all to love music of all types. He will make the music of heaven so much sweeter. My condolences to his loving family.

A fine man, a gifted musician, a joy to know, a blessing to all whose lives he touched, Heaven's gain. He will be missed.

I have no better or more enduring memories of anything in my life than those of being a Grenadier from 1967-1970. There has been a British "Union Jack" flag hanging in my house for over 40 years. A picture from January 20, 1969 in Washington, DC still hangs on the wall at home. Hearing "Rule Britannia" and "The British Grenadiers" to this day stirs my soul. I can hear bagpipe music, and I close my eyes and it is 1968 all over again. Mr. Calabrese, such is the degree to which you influenced my life. My heart breaks that you are no longer with us in body here on earth, but your memory and the memories of what we all shared as Grenadiers will live in my heart and soul forever.

What a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, teacher and musician and how lucky we are were that God saw fit to share him with the world.

Thank you for the gift of music!

My Papa was simply the greatest man in the world. He taught me so many things in my life; how to ride a horse, play the flute, drive a car. He taught me about our family and our italian heritage, and life in general. He made me think, and could make me laugh hysterically with just a look on his face. He was the best joke and story teller I have ever met, and probably will ever meet. Most importantly, I got to see something else so wonderful in my grandfather the past couple of years. That was the love he had for my son. He called my son, my Sam, the greatest joy of his life. It was so obvious that he felt this way. I can't even express how happy I am that my son and my wonderful husband got to share my Papa with me. I have truly been blessed with the greatest grandparents anyone could ever hope for.

May the Lord grant this kind and talented man eternal rest in the Kingdom. My prayers are with you all.

I was one of the first SHS drummer when Mr. Calabrese came to Statesville. Our band admired his every word and his vision to make us the very best. Heaven's music will be even sweeter now. Dear God bless such a great man and his family.
